Good question. Like anything, there definitely can be too much of a good thing. I take what the bottle recommends, three 1200 mg fish oil softgels a day.
I was taking about 3 caps at meals and noticed that 30-40 min later I was burping and tasting the fish oil.....yuck
So I think for me I'll spread it out more.

I take about four with my cottage cheese at bedtime. I know I won't taste it in my sleep.
The others I take at meals with strong flavors. I don't take them with cereal, oatmeal, etc. I have them with the tacos, grilled chicken and vegetables, etc. so I won't notice the taste, later.
You guys should get that Carlson's Liquid Fish Oil. I have some, and it is fantastic. 3 teaspoons of it give you over 3 grams of EPA/DHA (the equivalent of 10 or 12 fish oil capsules).

Your goal is to get as much EPA/DHA as possible, so you don't have to take as many capsules. The higher the quality of the capsule, the more EPA/DHA they have.
The quality ones might cost a bit more than the cheap ones, but unless they are more than twice the price, you're still better off buying the better ones. Plus, each capsule has 10 calories, so if I had to take 24 of the cheap ones, I'd be taking in 120 more calories than with the better ones with no real benefit.
I'm confused with the amount of EPA/DHA I should be consuming along with the salmon, tuna, beef, nuts, and flax oil fats... Is their a formula to compute my fats breakdown?
