Does anyone out there use a carb(ie:carbo gain) product for simple carbs PWO? I know there is dextrose and maltodextrin that you can buy but I there are alot of other products out there too.

I have been using gatorade powder PWO, but I'm just not convinced it's that "clean".

The ultimate would be something that is a combination of pure malto and dextrose, but many people use gatoraide in the PWO shakes. I do.

Mostly because I'm too lazy to figure out what to go and buy (or order online). Then I've got to figure out someway to flavor it, since they are plain (I think).

But, I don't think I'm going wrong with Gatoraide, just wasting money when I could get something cheaper (if I did my research).

I would bet money that carbo gain is just malto and/or dextrose with a bit of flavoring.

Yup, that's the one I was looking at. There is another one by ON called glycoload which looks pretty solid too. It's dex and malto, but it has alot more sugar on the label.

How is it that carbo gain only has 2g of sugar? Also, can you tell me what you put in your shake with it PWO? Thanks.

They can claim only 2 grams sugar because technically maltodextrin is a complex carb. Its still super high GI and breaks into sugar in the body quick but they don't have to mention that. That is why glycoload has more sugar. Dextrose is a simple carb composed of glucose so it has to be called sugar on the label. I think glycoload is more expensive so go with the carbo gain.

My PWO shake:
-Carbo gain .5 cup (47 g carbs)
-1.5 scoops champion whey (35-40 grams protein)
-2 scoops gatorade powder (40 g carb)

This is more carbs than most shakes but I am bulking and feel I need more cals around the workout. I also start drinking this right as I workout and continue to do so through the workout.

I drink carbo-force.

It gives me 220 cals and 55 carbs before my workout (.5 of the bottle) then the other half right after. So it gives you 110 carbs right around your workout. I think it has 33 sugars.

I'm bulking right now. It seems to work for me. Not sure the breakdown of the carbs...

This is a quote from Now's website about carbo gain...

" NOW Carbo Gain is a state of the art 100% carbohydrate formula that uses maltodextrin - an easily digestible from of corn starch that contains glucose polymers. These linked sugar compounds metabolize slowly within the body to ensure sustained energy during exercise and high-endurance training, delivering the maximum nutritional value from every carb you consume."

It says that it's "easily digestable" which is what you want PWO. However, it also says it "linked sugar compounds metabolize slowly within the body". I thought you want something to metablize ASAP PWO?? Is it not good pwo then or am I misunderstaning something here? Thanks.

Another place to get Protein powders, Malto, Dextro, and other supplements is Protein Factory. You order by the pound and the prices don't look too bad either.

I have heard a lot of negative press about protein factory. Apparently they failed some label claims tests pretty hard. If you want a blend check out www.pureprotein.com

Black Star Labs used to have the best customizer in the whole world and now they stopped doing it. BOO
