I grabbed a box of Kashi GoLean Crunch at the store the other day, and this stuff tastes *really* good. It appears to be a good alternative to Oatmeal (which I'm getting sick of). Does anyone one know if oatmeal's soluble fiber is the only reason it's good for lower cholesterol and blood pressure? If so, GoLean Crunch might be even better... with 3 grams per server vs. oatmeal's 2 grams.

Oatmeal Nutritional Label:

Total Fat 3g
Saturated 0.5g
Polyunsaturated 1g
Monounsaturated 1g
Sodium 0g
Total Carb 27g
Dietary Fiber 4g
Soluble Fiber 2g
Insoluble Fiber 2g
Sugars 1g
Protein 5g

GoLean Crunch Nutritional Label:
Total Fat 3g
Saturated Fat 0g
Sodium 95mg
Potassium 300mg
Total Carbohydrate 36g
Dietary Fiber 8g
Soluble Fiber 3g
Insoluble Fiber 5g
Sugars 13g
Protein 9g

As you can see, more sugars in the GoLean, but I'm thinking the extra protein and fiber would probably temper the glycemic index and counter those sugars.

It's probably fine to substitute the Kashi GoLean, unless you are really trying to avoid the excess sugar. It's unfortunate that they pump this stuff up with just as much sugar as the trashy kiddie cereals contain.

I agree with Dave about the double-edged sword issue: looks fine if you don't mind the sugar.

I also got sick of oatmeal a few months back, and I've been eating omelets since.

What do eat with the omelets to get in some carbs? Veggies? WW bread? I assume your eating them in the morning.

Any good omelete recipes?

Smoked turkey omelet sounds great and I never thought about zucchini and eggs. I usually just stuck with tomotoes or spinach with some ff cheese.

I basically make up an omelette like Johnka's every morning. I thought I would have gotten sick of it by now, but I love eggs, so 3 months later I'm still eating them.
Here's what I mix up...

- 1 Eggland's Best Omega 3 Egg
- 1 cup egg whites
- 1/4 cup of diced Zucchini
- 1/4 cup of either tomato/mushrooms/green peppers
- 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese.
- 2 oz diced lean ham/turkey
