Topic basically says it. Is it better to do cardio first or after lifting. Or does it not matter. Thank you.

I usually do it after, or on 'off' days. Reason being is that cardio tends to zap my energy that could be better devoted to weights.

There's been debate after debate regarding before and after and the percentages of fat lost increasing, etc.

For me, it comes down to energy. If I do heavy cardio, I can't put my all into lifting. Since I think quality lifting is more important than quality cardio, I'll give the lifting the priority.

I agree w/ Johnka and Lost_Dog, after, or better yet, on off lifting days. I've had really good results doing cardio on 3 off lifting days, and then on 2 of those cardio days, throwing a little ab work in.

But if you feel like cardio is better for YOU before lifting, then by all means do it. All of this is about figuring out what works for you personally. I read Johnka's post the other day about how he can shed fat a lot easier than a lot of people, and with that, he's going to have to do a workout that works good for him. Just figure out what works for you, and stick to that in principal.

Charles Staley says "whenever you train, perform the most intense activities first followed by less intense activities" if that helps any.
