I've been in quite a few different offices as a consultant, but the current location is out of control. Everyone eats nothing but vending machine foods for lunch, and then look at me like a jackass when I have my lunchbox full of food. I've never seen so many people eat popcorn as a meal in my life. Just out of control...

Start wearing a Camelback if you really want to freak them out.

Maybe it's your lunchbox that's making you look like a jackass, Barbie lunchboxes are for girls, get a KISS lunchbox or something like that.

I get lots of comments too, but I take them with pride!

Of course I carry my lunch(es) in my Lancome 'free gift' bag instead of a spiderman box.

A few have even asked for healthy eating tips. At our last birthday cake/welcome snack thing they even brought fresh fruit to complement the donuts

People im my office eat sooo bad. Just like you said EMARTIN10, they eat everything out of the vendy machine. For lunch sometimes they all go to a take out Italian place and either get double bacon cheese burgers or the biggest slices of pizza you will ever see. I'm talking (I've been told) that the actual pizza is 24" in diameter. The thing that bothers me is that one of my co-workers plays college hoops...he is pretty ripped (a lil on the skinny side) but once told me I am the only person he knows that eats yogurt. Lol! As you can see, this topic is quite a pet peeve to me. Sorr for the rant but venting helps.

The good news is things can change. At one point in time my office was like that, then myself and 2 others started playing basketball once per week and eating healthy. Gradually more people started joining us and now a few months later we have 10-12 people play b'ball at lunchtimes 2 times per week and the snack box empties a LOT slower than it used to.

That's a good call. It's just tough for me to get anyone to do that since I'm in a different location every week. I'd love to have my office be in one spot and be able to work out at lunch. But, I'm sure the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence and I'd get bored in one location pretty quick.

I've tried to get people to eat better, but it just doesn't happen. I tell them why I eat this way (like why I don't eat Wonderbread). So they come to work with Wheat Wonderbread saying "see, I'm healthy too." I guess you really have to be into it to understand it. Oh well, in time maybe I'll get it through their thick skulls...

I eat at a "Meat-n-Three" across the street from where I work several times a week (in the South, a "Meat-n-Three" is a cafeteria-type line where people often order a meat and three Southern-style vegetables). The people who work there constantly rib me about how much food I order. I almost always order a lean meat and FOUR vegetables. They comment on how much I eat for lunch, yet I stay so thin. Um, yeah, but I'm ordering a grilled chicken breast, collard greens, stewed tomatoes, yellow squash, and blackeyed peas -- probably a grand total of 550-600 calories. Compare that with the fatso who is wallowing in and ordering fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, broccoli casserole, and fried okra (yes, mac-n-cheese is considered a "vegetable" at these places!). And eating the complimentary cornbread or roll, which I leave behind. Probably 2.5X-3X as many calories. Many/most people have little concept of the caloric impact of the foods they are eating.

I wish they had a "Meat-n-Three" here in Chi-town. Sounds damn good.

Sounds pretty bad overall. I'm sure we all have equally scary stories of people's POW shakes and foods. A guy just ate 7 large bananas after his w/o today. He does that every day, and he has more bananas in the morning and evening. Makes my hair stand on end.

Fortunately for me although enough people eat like ass, no one says anything about how I eat, at least not really anymore since I dropped 60 or so lbs, all I get now is wow your getting skinny and your looking good. I mean they could try and complain about my food, but then I could just say, yes and that is why you are fat and I am not.

Tonnes of us have nalgene bottles here, well 3 or 4 of us.

Oh and also...

Enjoy.

hehe, where I live there's no wonderbread, hell, 10 years ago we only got bananas for xmas:P

People's lunch choices here are commonly sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds (something like a national sport eating them at work if nobody's watching), potato chips and pretsels. Oh yeah, coffee, coke and a cigarette (the eastern european tripod), taken in the holy combination at least 4 times a day.

Nobody really notices (or cares) but I bring one of those plastic grocery sacks half full of food everyday. Works for me!

Speaking of Nalgene, do those stay closed pretty well? I was thinking of carry by work out shake in my bag with me instead of mixing it at work but don't want it to leak everywhere.

Yeah, they stay closed really well, but they are harder than hell to clean if you don't have a dishwasher. Any let me tell you, you think you clean them, but protein smells friggin horrible after a while if you don't give them a really really good cleaning. But they do stay closed really well.

I eat at 9:30, 12:00, and 3:30. I have my own drawer in the offic fridge and it never fails. Someone always comments on me eating at any time except 12:00. I'm by no means in great shape (unless you compare me to my co-workers). You should see them scarf down their "Healthy Choices" and other false health foods. So many of them say that they can't lose weight and thier body is "just happy at the weight is" What a load of crap. Anyways, that's my morning rant.

My coworkers have been very supportive. The only food comments I get are that they are amazed at how much I can eat and still stay thin.

I'm not in the office at regular times, so I keep food in a cooler in the car. When I do go into the office, I grab my next snack and take it in with me. But, I think the ones that I eat in between meals seem pretty normal to them (nuts, fruit, jerky, etc.). I don't ever drink shakes. I save eating tuna or sardines straight out of the can for when I'm back in the car...
