Just bought this stuff at the store. Was wondering what you all think:

52g carbs, no fat, no protein per serving.

Ingredients:

100% Pure Complex Carbohydrates from the highest quality grain sources available. 100% Natural, No Sugar, Artificial Flavors, or Preservatives.

24 servings per bottle, $13 per bottle. I figure one serving is about the same as 4 slices of bread, so the bottle is worth 96 slices of bread (as far as grain carbs go). However, it's easier to get down and takes less work. And it won't get moldy as quickly.

I'm planning on using it as a post-post-wokrout shake, along with some protein.

Thoughts?

p.s. I AM bulking (eternally! )

Sounds like maltodextrin or dextrose, or some mixture thereof. Mix it with protein and you've got a great PWO shake.

Ah! I was wondering about that. That's too bad, because I already have malto and dextrose for PWO. I guess I was hoping that this was a lower-GI carb. It only lists 1g of sugar under the 52 carbs, and the name "complex carbs"... I'm still trying to find more info on the net.

I did find this: "Carbo Hit is a revolutionary, multi-purpose powder consisting of 100% pure complex carbohydrates derived from only the highest-quality, long-grain sources available."

Grinding up grains significantly raises there GI. This means that what may be a low GI grain in its whole form could be up there w/ sugar after it is blended.

Maltodextrin is technically a 'complex carbohydrate', meaning that its molecular structure is not as simple as glucose. But that doesn't mean it's released slowly into the bloodstream (quite the contrary). That's why the term complex carbohydrate is sometimes misleading.

Somebody probably paid too much for your mom, too, but if he hadn't been willing, we wouldn't have the dear, sweet TS that we all know and love today!
