Ive been taking isopure (whey Protein) like my coaches said. ( with icecream and double dosage ) It hasnt really worked Ive gained 8 pounds since summer started. My coach said he gain 30 pounds over a summer. I read some where that creatine makes you gain weight was wondering if this was a good choice if not what should i try

I guess you should probably tell us more about yourself. Height, weight, how long you've been exercising. What kind of sport you're bulking up for (football?), etc.

Creatine can be good, but eating a lot is the recommended way. Isopure is also good, but awfully expensive.

Anyway, tell us more and the guys here will help a bunch.

Welcome to the forums

Like Rockhard said, we need a little more information. But I have a feeling you're simply not eating enough (real food). Protein shakes won't get you huge by themselves. Particularly if you are on the younger side, you need to be eating like a horse if you want to be as big as a horse.

Also keep in mind that everyone is different. Your body might not be best served by gaining 2.5 pounds per week. Depending on position, you could actually hurt your performance. I gained about 10-15 pounds in the summer before HS football and it served me well as most was useable, lean muscle. I actually gained speed and agility during that time.

Obviously, weight is in direct proportion with momentum, which is good for collisions, but there are limits. I saw others put on fat and they couldn't make the play due to being fat and slow. One huge question: What position do you play? If not OL or DL, you're overemphasising weight, IMO.

I was in a position similar to your when I was in high school.

I did not take protein shakes, but weight gainer. Heavy Weight Gainer 900 to be exact. I lifted two hours a day for two months and gained 18 pounds. Lost about 5 when two-a-days started. It was mainly muscle. Oh, as someone said before, I ate like a horse as well.

I now am taking Gainer Matrix to help put some lbs on. I take on e shake a day. I do it because I eat about 3500 cals, 300 carbs, and 300 protein, then the shake and can't put on weight.

I'm now 26 when gaining weight is easier. this will help if you lift, eat, and train right. Even eating all this stuff, my bf% is @ 10%

Right, we need more info.

For what its worth, you can gain weight, but its work. I've gained 20 lbs and I'm a very hard gainer (I've lost part of my intestine due to surgery). My gains have been lean, luckily.
I used a weight gainer, protein powder (2 scoops), milk, ice cream, and banana shake on once or twice a day, plus better overall nutrician. It is doable. I did this in my late 40's and have maintained about 185 for about 3-4 years.

Good luck!

what about carbs and fats? fats can easily add more calories to your diet.

when your coach gains 30lbs over the summer, does he know how much is lean muscle and how much is bodyfat?
