Here's a good tip from Dr. Lonnie Lowery :

Quote:
You're on a diet. Your discipline is waning. And now you have to go to a restaurant where you'll be tempted to order things that would derail your progress. How do you resist the free bread and decadent desserts? Answer: Eat a "pre-meal."

A pre-meal is a small snack consumed 30 to 60 minutes before you hit the restaurant. Ordering when you're not starving will make it easier to stay on the healthy side of the menu and skip the fried appetizers.

What's the best pre-meal? Dr. Lonnie Lowery recommends a low glycemic apple or a few high fiber crackers. Wash these down with a small protein shake made with Low Carb Grow! and you'll be able to stay in dietary control at your favorite restaurant!

Keeping a bag of apples in the car is also a great way to resist fast food temptation on the way home from work. Eat one as soon as you get in.

This really does work. Every time I'm dragged to a restaurant , I'll have some protein powder in water first, or a chicken breast with fish oil caps, or some cottage cheese and walnuts. It really eliminates the temptation to delve into the chips, fries, etc.

One of my favorite pre-meals is cottage cheese with a V8. Is that gross? I love it personally. About a cup of cottage cheese and maybe a handful of nuts really curbs my appetite and keeps my bloodsugar from descending into the abyss.

LOL! Looks like we were both posting pretty much the same pre-meal at the same time, John. Great minds must think alike!

...and they were very similar to boot!

Here's another good one: 1/4 cup oat bran, 1/4 cup wheat bran, dash of splenda, water, heat in microwave for a couple of minutes, add fruit of your choice and a scoop of whey.

All of that fiber expands and makes it pretty much impossible to throw much on top of it.
