Question

I'm a relative newbie to fitness based nutrition and am confilicted as to my PWO. I am trying to cut and was under the original impression that I shouldn't and CHO's to my PWO's. Now after a little more reading it seems as though everyone recommends adding gatorade or some other type of simple carbs. Is there a consensus on this? If so, what would be a good ratio to use?

BTW, I'm 42, 5'11 , 189 and around 14% bf.

ok, i posted that link on another thread here, & it seems to just go to the avantlabs forum, rather than the intended topic. click the link above, go to page 3 of the "advanced theory & discussion" forum. the topic is "low gi post workout"...9 pages long. its a bunch of smart muthers discussing pwo...it may shed some light for you.

Thanks guys...I think?

OK, I've read the entire post over at Avant Labs, and while I try to uncross my eyes can any scientists out there give me the layman's summary of that discussion?

This was what I thought I read:

1. CHO's simple and complex speed up the recovery
2. CHO's are required for maximal protein synthesis
3. CHO's are not required for glucose recovery
4. CHO's are not required for protein synthesis

No conclusion on optimal amount and/or type of CHO's added to PWO's while trying to lose weight.

Did I read this correctly?

Thanks
