I was reading one of the posts in the training forum where someone went to a conference at c.o.c. and listed DHEA as a thermogenic aid. We (bodybuilders), have know this for quite some time now. I can even explain how it works. The sites of oxygen consumption and fat breakdown are in the peroxisomes, found in liver cells. Excess DHEA causes the peroxisomes to proliferate and work overtime. The peroxisomes use oxygen to break down fats, which are then used as a source of energy. This is all stimulated by the inactivation of DHEA. The liver senses that you do not need excess DHEA floating around in the blood so it stimulates it's drug metabolizing enzymes contained in those peroxisomes. This is an energy wasting process that does not trap energy in the form of ATP. all the energy is released as heat. think about it? you could cut the cutting cycle.

However, there are some negatives. DHEA can aromatize to estsrogen in men. Also, DHeA is a weak androgen that could occupy the receptor sites for stronger androgens such as "T". For a body builder it is not beneficial to have weak androgen occupying receptor sites that could be occupied by "T" The net effect estrogenic that could reduce the amount of Lh and fsh being produced.
