Thumbs up

I tell you I am pissed off at most supplement companies even the ones that are repuatable like Biotest or EAS.

Why am I mad at these companies, well they are advertising and saying stuff like Mag-10 will put weight on you where as the only thing proven to put any weight on any indvidual is Creatine. And a sound diet. Maybe some added Whey Protien/ MPR also will help you out to. But certin supplements no matter what they claim are just plain BS.

Of course, anabolic steroids will also add weight.

Seriously though, I have to agree with you that the 'sizzle' for the supplements more often is greater than the 'steak'. And many who use them have no business doing so because they have not put in years of a good diet and exercise program yet. They buy into the marketing hype that pushes a 'quick fix', never looking to read the fine print that the models who are in the ads (the same guys for years, it seems) are not your average results.

For those who are looking at creatine, here's some info. I am not a big proponent of creatine, nor have I ever used it. But there is a lot of literature that shows it's effectiveness. It certainly has been shown to increase strength, and when you're able to train with more weight, you can build more muscle.

As far as it's effectiveness, here's a post by Lou Schuler over on the MH board, CSCS and editor at Men's Health with a link. Lou's a journalist and it's his job to ferret out the details, whether pro or con, which he did for an article that ran a while back in MH.

Lou:" You have to be blind, deaf, and mentally incompetent to still believe that creatine is anything other than a nutritional supplement that's safe for anyone and beneficial to most.

Here's a link to a book on creatine by Melvin Williams, who's generally regarded as one of the foremost academic authorities on ergogenic supplements. The book's a couple years old, but the only difference between then and now is the weight of evidence in favor of creatine as a useful supplement for most people, especially guys who are looking to increase muscle mass and strength:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...295441-8082438

One of the coauthors is Rick Kreider, who probably has more published creatine studies than any other researcher."

Alwyn Cosgrove has stated that creatine is one of the most studied substances on the face of the planet, including studies on children using it for eye disease that have used it for 30+ years.

For those who've put in their due diligence and want more, it may be what they are looking for. As for me, I haven't put in the full effort, and I don't like taking anything that I have to cycle for fear of my own body shutting down it's production.
