Default Peri-workout shake during long training sessions

Right now I'm in the middle of Maximum Strength and some of the workouts are taking me a while to complete, including warm-ups sometimes about 1.5 hours. Most of the time I keep it to about an hour, but on some of the tougher ones, like with cluster reps or 10 sets of this and that, it takes longer, especially while still learning the movements.

I've read before that long workouts over an hour can increase cortisol, which is one of the reasons a lot of these programs keep it to that time.

Would a peri-workout shake help to curb that? I've been drinking a small shake during my workout, just 20g of carbs from gatorade powder and about 10 grams of protein, in addition to my carb/protein meal 1-2 hours before training and a 30/60 protein/carb shake immediately upon completion.

So far I feel fine and I'm making great progress, so I imagine it's probably not a big deal regardless, but I'm just curious about the whole cortisol thing and if my workouts are going too long, is the peri-workout shake helping?

That's pretty overblown, so don't sweat it.

That being said, if I'm training for a long time, I like to sip a shake during. I usually drink half before training, then top it off with water in the drinking fountain to drink during.

thanks for the info, i didn't think it was that big of a deal. like i said i feel great so far. i do the topping-off thing with water too, very useful, and easier than carrying two bottles.
