Default Is it still necessary to eat protein after a workout?

I know that more than ever, studies are showing that it is 'calories in vs. calories out', so I am interested if it is still considered to be of great importance to consume protein directly after a workout?

When last I checked, if you didn't consume mucho protein within an hour of working out, your muscles would basically shrivel up and die by later that evening.

What is the latest thinking on this?

The less food you eat/greater the deficit, the more important it is to get protein around the workout.

I tend to get most of mine before/during the workout, then another fairly big hit of slow-digesting stuff afterwards.

If you're eating more food, this becomes less important.

I agree with PMDL, and also you should note that there are a lot of recent studies on pre-workout nutrition showing that it can be equal to or better than post-workout nutrition. So as long as you're getting something "around" your workout, you are probably fine. As said, the less total food you're eating daily, the more important this becomes.

+1

I can personally vouch for this; when bulking I cared less when I got protein in; now with cutting, I make sure to get protein in post-workout just to make sure I preserve muscle mass.

You should get in 30-40 grams of protein 15-20 minutes after your workout (protein shake would come in handy) and then an hour after your workout eat again (steak and a potatoe) and drink plenty of water. Each meal throughout the day should consist of lots of protein.

A good meal 30 minutes before your workout would be ideal so you have energy to continue through your workout.

Splurge recoveries is teh bestorz, until

will absolutely blow your socks off with its sheer hardcoreness - the likes of which the world has ever seen. It is the worlds most dangerous supplement. Just look at it, it has a snake and its named after a snake, have you ever seen something so absolutely as hardcore as a snake? I havent. Maybe a turtle with a knife, but this guy has no knife, so just think how hardcore it is. I have wood just thinking about it.

No. 73g of carbs in the form of 32% BIOTEST Surge Workout Fuel, 25% BIOTEST FINIbars, and 43% BIOTEST Surge Recovery is necessary pre-workout. Anything else will be less anabolic and will screw up your workouts. Add in an extra scoop of BIOTEST Metabolic Drive prior to your workout as well to add in some extra protein. During your workout, sip 23g of BIOTEST BCAAs (10g per half hour) and half a scoop of BIOTEST Surge Workout Fuel (2 sips per set)....

If you need help, I can post a good post-workout plan. If you don't get this preworkout supplement plan down packed however, you won't get the results you're looking for in the weight room. You might as well stay home.

Also, make sure to take 5-10 BIOTEST Alpha GPC (sp?) pills pre-workout, they will improve your neural efficiency by 47% according to science.

Besides, until BIOTEST Anaconda and BIOTEST MAG-10 come out and "I, Bodybuilder," this is the best plan you're going to get, even though it is sub-optimal.

Often a typical Christian Thibaudeau post unfortunately at t-nation.
