Diet, Nutrition and SupplementationPost here for supplement reviews or nutritional advice. If you're trying to get "ripped abz" THIS is where you should be.
I was going to order some more Biotest Metabolic Drive, but I'm thinking it may be overpriced (I can get some Precision Protein Stack for HALF the price)..
But I adhere to the motto "you get what you pay for" in most situations too, though..
Thoughts?
I use AllMax Nutrition Isoflex whey isolate for post-workout stuff..
But for anytime shakes, etc. I want something that will stick to the ribs a bit more..
you do get what you pay for.
advertising, branding, bullshit…
better leave JPfitness, you don't pay to be here so our advice is useless.
Personally, dude, I buy some fucking cheap ON whey and occasionally use it as an excuse to make a milkshake. I've not seen a reason to base my decision on what to get other than "cheap" and "taste."
Define "stick to the ribs". Give you a feeling of satisfaction and satiety? Or be slower digested and therefore give a slower release of a.a. into the bloodstream?
Liquid calories just aren't going to give you a feeling of fullness or satiety the way real food that you chew will give it to you. Is this for a meal replacement or snack replacement, or as a true supplement/extra that you want to take in?

True.. True..
In some cases (in others not, in my opinion.. home electronics and appliances, for example)..
Protein is protein though, I guess..

C'mon, Lisa.. Give me SOME credit.. LOL
Like I say, I use the whey PWO, and the slow-release for a between-meal p/c/f shake, or on top of some before bed cottage cheese..
I'm all about taste because I'm just picky as hell about what I eat/drink. So, for me, I go with the best-tasting PP I can find. And, that's obviously a very individual thing. In fact, many swear by True Protein. I can't stand it. I just gave away a shit-load of it because no matter what flavor I try, it's horrid to me.

Research doesn't decisively support whey only (as opposed to a whey/casein blend) as superior for postworkout purposes. Review page 5 in the March 2008 AARR - make use of your subscription, lol.
As for satiety, studies show either a) no difference between whey & casein, or b) whey is superior to casein. So, if you're gonna go with the weight of the research evidence & are forced to choose between whey & casein for satiety purposes, whey wins. In the long term & within the context of a mixed diet, it's likely that none of this freaking matters - go with the cheapest/best-tasting powder you can gastrically tolerate.
Doug, I bought the 6 pound bag of EAS Protein at Costco, $29 I think. It tastes great, is a mix of different proteins (whey, isolate, casein,) and as far as I can tell the numbers looked fine.
That seemed cheaper than lots of stuff I was finding, which fits into Alan's comment.
I'm going to go buy a bag of chocolate flavored next time I'm there.

Wow that sounds like a really good price. How many servings?
Doug, it doesn't matter what I put in my shakes, I'm always hungry again in 30 minutes. Liquid doesn't stick to the ribs.
Long ago, I decided that my protein was just to get my overall protein up, not to do anything long, quick, fast, or slow with the protein. So, it doesn't really matter to me, as long as it tastes good enough and is cost effective.

!!
I'll have to see what they have at Costco, thanks! Hopefully mine will have a deal that good..

I do this too, when I see my carb grammage is getting too high as the day wears on..
And I do shakes for the other reasons I mentioned (I can add Creatine and Greens+, the taste satisfies my sweet tooth, and I can add a crap load of spinach and not have it taste like spinach)..
That comes out to 76-77 servings, right? That's a good price for a blend. Is it just chocolate or vanilla?
Yea, it says 77 servings.
I only saw chocolate and vanilla there at Costco and only bought the vanilla as it's my preferred flavor and I was scared of having 12 lbs of something if I didn't like it.
I do plan on buying the chocolate next time I'm there.
I looked online and it did look like a really good price. I'm not really sure how all the different products line up as far as quality goes, but like Alan said above, and from things I've read, there's no need to spend extra money on extra claims.
I'd love to know if others find it there. Costco sure does carry a lot of supplements and such, and they had other protein products too, some premixed muscle milk ones I saw.

Yeah that's a very good price for any protein. I usually get mine for around $30-32, but that's not including shipping, and it's always just whey. I like the fact that yours is a blend. However, I get to choose from TONS of great flavors. Don't know if I'm willing to give that up
Hi Annette and everyone:
I'm not a Costco member, but I could be- I had been thinking of getting buybulkwhey 5lbs however the shipping adds almost 50% to the price (I'm here in the US!), so the EAS is about the same price, I would just have to pay for a membership..
Does anyone know the relative benefits of EAS v. buybulkwhey?
I don't need flavor or sweeteners.
