Default Alcohol in moderation

Is any type of alcohol in moderation (I'm talking 1-2 drinks per day) healthy, including beer, hard liquor, and white wine. I'm sure we all have heard of red wine helping because good because of the reservatrol. However, I just started a nutrition class and my professor said that you would have to take in an unrealistic amount to have benefits, and that the benefits are actually from the alcohol, so any type of alcohol gives the same benefits.

Any truth to that?

I've written an alcohol article on a website that has semi-noodie shots, but it might answer some of your questions:

Yup that pretty much covered it for me. I wish there was more on hard liquor though, since that's my drink of choice

Other than the carb differences, it's just alcohol. Hard is more concentrated than beer or wine, and contains no carbs/sugar (unless you make it a mixed drink).

Well, I know that. I'm just saying there were more studies on the other kinds and it would be more reassuring if there was more info on the liquor.

There are various claims regarding the different liquors....

but the quality of the studies can get pretty sketchy
