Diet, Nutrition and SupplementationPost here for supplement reviews or nutritional advice. If you're trying to get "ripped abz" THIS is where you should be.
Animal research and at aleast one human trial show beneficial effects on fat oxidation/'metabolism' It ain't much.
Somewhere in Alan's article he mentions it, but it's so low to not get excited abiout. It's better with the obese, I think. Still, the study he refernced used sunflower oil as the "control" oil. If 3s are helping the fat loss, maybe the 6s are hurting it? Sunflower oil is pretty high in 6s. Maybe fish oil vs something neutral would have been even less exciting.

The animal works shows both n-6 and n-3 fats have an effect, n-6 is smaller than n-3.
Its certainly not the better than DNP level that some (cough berardi) have mentioned in the past.
I don't get why people recommend taking 3-6 grams of EPA/DHA per day when the article clearly says that adverse effects were found when taking 4g/day.
Did you see someone in this thread who presumably read the article recommend 3-6 grams of EPA/DHA per day?
I saw LostDog write something about starting with 3-6 capsules which is far from saying 3-6 g of EPA/DHA.

No, I wasn't implying that it was in this thread. Sorry for the misunderstanding. That's just most of what I've heard from other places.
Since we're on the topic, what would you recommend ?
I personally take sufficient supplements to get 2-3g of EPA/DHA combined on most days. I'm not in a position to recommend to anyone else.
True, but you had to come up with that number somehow, even if it's not the same for me. There has to be a way to figure out a guideline, otherwise you wouldn't not have known what's right for you.
Ah. At the time, I read what I could and that seemed to be a reasonable conclusion based on what studies I could find, comments on those studies and "take me at my word" recommendations from non-random folks on the internet It was a year or two ago that I started targeting that level so I couldn't really point you to what I read at the time nor do I remember.
