Default 5 HTP and ZMA

I just started taking these to help me sleep better and be able to wake up more fresh in the morning. I have been taking ZMA and 5HTP the first 2 days together, but I was having trouble sleeping and kept waking up in the middle of the night. However, I was not tired at all during the day and I had a lot of energy. I was also more calm and talking clearly and stuff too without stuttering. The 2nd night, same problem with sleeping..but in the morning (yesterday morning) I did not have the same mood/calm effect I had the first night taking them. Last night I decided to try ZMA by itself to see if it would help me sleep better and it did and I did not wake up many times in the middle of the night. I still feel tired though probably due to lack of sleep the 2 nights before, but I feel good.

The question is the 5 htp - when should I take it and can it be taken with food (bottle doesnt say when to take it or with what)? because I need it to help me with being nervous and to be calm (I want to be normal and don't feel like I am pressured and want to rush all the time to get things done). I also researched these 2 supplements on google and did not find the answer I am looking for. I did find out that its not that good to take 5 htp with vitamin b (zma has b 6 in it), so that might be why I was waking up a lot in the middle of the night. and also I need to start taking zma water as well (or something else. hopefully there is no taste when I take it tonight) because I have been doing it with orange juice and that has calcium in it. (just found out its not good to take with anything that has calcium in it)

I need zinc and magnesium to help me with my ADD (I researched this and a lot of people with ADD dont have enough zinc and mag) and plus it helps with muscle recovery as well as sleeping better at night (I have more lifting energy and motivation). I have noticed more brain alert as well as better memory (for breakfast and lunch I take fish oil with ginkgo and panax ginseng).

what should I do with 5 htp? I need it in my daily supplement somewhere. I am thinking dinner time or after dinner or something.

Most take it at night as it can make some sleepy. Two good books I recommend by Julia Ross are "The Mood Cure" and "The Diet Cure"-she treats patients with various disorders at her clinic with amino acid therapies.

I don't know much about 5HTP, so I can't really comment on that one. I did take ZMA a little while ago with some success as far as staying asleep better than usual. Anyway, I think you should consult your doctor before self-determining that you don't have enough magnesium and/or zinc. I understand your situation and that most people with ADD are deficient, but too much of anything is a bad thing.

Again, with the 5HTP, what makes you think you need it?
