Default lunch meat?

I have been trying to find decent lunch meat but it all seems to be jam packed with sodium. Everyone suggests turkey for sandwiches and snacks but last night at the grocery store when I saw that 3 slices had over 400mg of sodium I just gave up. I would just eat fresh chicken and other meats but it's hard working retail when a turkey and cheese sandwich is easier.

Any help?

If you are making your own lunch and bringing it to work it isn't really a problem.

So sorry- was working on very little sleep and running late for work, what I meant was a turkey sandwich and stuff is easier then a nice grilled chicken breast when I am at work, since I am a picky eater and don't really do left-overs/re heated food.

My issue is finding decent lunch meat, they just all seem to be packed with excess sodium and other junk.

Grill the turkey breast on Sunday (or whenever) for the week ahead. You can even make the sandwiches for the week ahead. Wraps work really well make ahead of time. My normal lunch is 50 - 75 grams of cut up turkey breast with 125 g (1/2 cup) of cottage cheese and some cooked broccoli (plus spices); no heating needed. It's only as complicated as you make it, really.

Try Boarhead's low sodium lunch meat from the deli.

Think about things you can eat that aren't reheated, then. Salads, hardboiled eggs, cheese, cold chicken, etc.

I don't know what your goals are, but if it's fat loss, then sodium isn't the concern, it's how many calories are on the sandwich.
