Question I am a little scared of hot tea . .

One weakness I have always had was hot tea. It's my chocolate.

Well, I don't care for green tea, herbal teas, or any of that. I enjoy simple Lipton tea with non-dairy cream and sugar.

WELL, for several years I have noticed a pattern that when I drink a lot of hot tea (say 2-3 a day) it has always made me gain 5 lbs or so. (just like I have heard others say that sodas do them)

I have always assumed that it is the sugar in it (about 2-3 tsp a cup) that made me gain the weight, and also the fact that I tended to drink them at night but I am writing her to make sure that is what it would be

Since starting this routine I have been having a cup or so of hot tea per day, replacing the sugar with splenda, so that the hot tea only has about 25 calories or so . . is that okay?

Or is there something in regular orange pekoe tea that I should be avoiding when trying to lose weight? I just don't want to be sabotaging myself, but at the same time don't want to be avoiding something that wouldn't really hurt me

Thank you!

Do bad things tend to correlate with tea? You know, tea is so much better when drank while eating cookies?

(for me that's usually alcohol)

This is funny becuase I have noticed when I drink tea I tend to feel bloated/retain a lot of water. I am not a tea drinker but kept hearing the health benefits of it (particularly green tea) so thought I would give it a try. I drink it straight, no sweetener of any kind. Some people say tea is a mild diuretic so I found it strange that I felt so bloated aftewards (stomach, rings tight on my fingers) Very strange but this has happened too many times to be a coincidence.

With your previous tea drinking, that was about 150 calories per day of sugar, plus however many were in the creamer.

Not massive numbers but they add up pretty quick if you do it every day. Yes, it could make a difference.
