Default True Protein- help!!!

Hi everyone- hoping someone can help me figure out the mystery that is the true protein website. I'm looking for a way to increase my protein intake without increasing carbs necessarily, because my current macros are working out to be 40% carbs, 30 % protein, 30% fat and I would like the protein and carb % to be swapped.

I am curious about true protein because I would like to buy the sample flavor packs to have more variety of flavors in case I hate one particular flavor.

My goal right now is fat loss and I am on week 3 of Leigh Peele's OPT Program if that is at all helpful information.

Any ideas of which unflavored formular to choose? I will mostl likely be drinking it either first thing in the morning or right after a workout in the early evening.

Thanks so much!

Trueprotein can be a little overwhelming at first. What I do is order my carbs and protein separate and unmixed. It cost a little more since I think you have to buy at least 5lbs of both, and if it's your first order 2 containers, but then you have the flexibility of adjusting your protein/carb ratio whenever you make a shake.

After the first order I found that I end up ordering more plain protein about twice as often as I need to order more carbs.

Also, get the flavors separate too. Makes for easy mix and match combinations that can be good, and leaves the protein plain to add to any dish\shake that you might want to try it in.

Hope that helps!

I get the Whey Protein Isolate Cold Filtration.
I have no idea why I ended up with that one but I like it.
I get it unsweetened & unflavored and use their flavors. I generally buy Banana Bash & one of the vanillas. The others are mostly medium for me but I have a few just in case I want a change.
I started with the flavor sampler to get an idea of the flavors. It seems like the sampler is now all possible flavors - when I tried it I think it was 10 or so. Not sure if that was a limited sample, or if that was all the flavors at the time (could be).

eta: I see the sample pack are with the WPI Cold. Probably that's why I started ordering that one - I already knew how it mixed from the samples.

i've done both unsweetened and flavors separate, and also sweetened already. I generally just go with batches of already sweetened b/c it's easier for me. As for protein, i get either team skip, whey isolate cold filtered, or just a cheap concentrate. There's not a vast difference between the proteins, IMO. Skip is a little thicker, and WPI CF is a little cleaner tasting than WPC. But, if you just chug the shakes, just go with a cheap WPC.

I've tried pretty much all their flavors and a few different kinds of protein (minus their newer ones like pb&j..i have that coming soon, although, i am dubious). I would stay away from the berry or fruit ones like watermelon, lemonade, wild berry (very gross) and lime. The ones i particularly liked are: strawberry+cream, peaches and cream, orange cream, both banana, the double dutch chocolate and vanilla. The coconut ones are also pretty awesome and becoming one of my favs, but you can get burned out on coconut and these other flavors if you have them regularly, so i generally have the staples of chocolate, strawberry and vanilla.

I don't get the carbs, b/c if i'm having them, i'm going to get them from a tastier source (aka food), rather than a shake. But, i don't think there's a limit of how much you have to order if you plan to go this route.

just a heads up that the sample packs are not flavoring packets. They're actually like 25g of protein/sample. You need to order the flavorings separate.

I like chocolate but have been disappointed with their chocolates that I've tried.
I've had good luck with my own sweetener & cocoa powder rather than their chocolate flavors. I also like 1/2 serving of vanilla flavor, espresso powder, cocoa & a little of my own sweetener for a mocha-like shake.

i personally liked their chocolate, but it's not as great as some people say. I've also done the thing with the chocolate+some espresso powder, and it tastes like a mocha. It sucks when you can't drink them at night though. I do think that the vanilla flavor is probably the best i've tried. I tried ONs vanilla...no comparison.

Now here's another q:

Do you order premium French vanilla cream or unsweetened vanilla or Natural vanilla and add in a sweetener?

I just got my first shipment from TP on Friday and I am already a huge fan.
I jumped in with both feet and got the 25LB. Recession Ultra Whey Blend. and 3 flavors, cookie dough, Dutch fudge, and orange creamsicle. I like them all.
I'm even ordering 3 more flavors to try as we speak...

Banana Bash. Seriously good. Better than Bananas & Creme. And it is a nice base flavor for shakes where you add berries or other fruit.

yep. premium french vanilla cream. They sweeten it w/ splenda, i believe. I've never tried the natural ones, b/c i'm kinda dubious of trying stuff with a stevia aftertaste.

i agree. Have you tried any of the coconut flavors yet? Coconut cream is awesome. It reminds me when i started working at starbucks, and we had these coconut cream fraps.

I've got PB&J coming in the mail soon... kinda scared to try it. haha!

I haven't ordered in awhile (bought a lot of protein the last time) and was STUNNED to see how many new flavors they have. When I'm ready for more flavors I'll give the coconut a try.

I just got a custom mix that included hydrolized casein (which is supposed to be nasty) sweetened with stevia, which I hadn't actually tried before.

It's a little bit skunky, but not distractingly so.
