Default Why do I pee so much after a shake?

I don't think it's a coincidence..

It can't be..

Every time I have a shake:

30g Metabolic Drive
60-100g spinach
20g cocoa powder
250g cottage cheese
150g 1% milk (or goat's milk, if I have the room, cal-wise)
20-30g peanut butter
6 ice cubes

I piss like a race horse..

3 times in an hour..

Doesn't happen after a solid meal, ever..

Is the body trying to get rid of the glucose?

(that Metabolic Drive is pretty damn sweet!!!)

Another, much grosser question:

Don't look if you're delicate!!!!

Why the diarrhea if I have a shake with a banana in it?

Same ingredients as above basically, except the spinach..

Somewhat seriously, though, Galya has a good point. For me, if I drink anything more than water too soon after a workout, I reenact the Dumb & Dumber toilet scene. Could simply be a matter of settling the stomach first.

Nice..

I have my shake whenever..

Doesn't SEEM to make a difference, in terms of the aforementioned effects..

Come to think of it, though, I DID have the banana one post WO..

(for obvious reasons I haven't been making banana shakes a staple.. LOL)

You are funny.

It is possible that that shake combo does something to your mineral balance or maybe your body wants to get rid of excess nitrogen and other compounds you don't need to keep inside It could be the water content, too.

You have some speedy elimination re both cases.

Just a thought? Could you have normal shakes (protein + water) and see if they do the same keeping to the recommended serving on the box?

Yup, just did, after reading that..

Tastes like ass, of course..

But 30 minutes, no trips to the bathroom, yet..

Hmm......

Hm. Now it's time to have each of the other ingredients separately + the same amount of liquid (ice). Yuk! Good luck if you still feel like experimenting

Not really.. LOL

I'll take the extra peeing..

As long as it's not something where I'm borderline diabetic, and my body's desperately trying to get rid of glucose or something..

I got a blood test done, and it's not that..

As for the banana shakes, who knows, but I'll stay well clear of them, I guess..

LOL Doug - you are killing me... Taste like ass....

I will restrain myself on those slow hanging pitches over the plate for now... but fair warning - post "tastes like ass" here and you deserve the posts that will follow

In all seriousness, unless you think you have some kind of urinary problem, (see a doc) otherwise just piss (or piddle, or do a number 1 if you prefer euphemism) and be done with it. I drink a lot when I am working out, and if I do not have to urinate, I think I am not drinking enough fluids in my workout. If you are really curious, just cut one thing out at a time and see what it was.

Cheers

Peter

Ho boy....

I AM trying to drink more fluids, (green tea, etc), and I do of course pee more soon after..

But with the shakes it's almost immediate, and for at least the next hour (and 3 times in that time frame is VERY conservative)..

Oh well..

Cut shakes, or live with the mystery (and stay close to a lav)..

I DO like me shakes, so....

hi...

After reading your problem; it seems like that you are diabetic. Please go in for a blood test to remove all doubts.

You're consuming a lot of protein in that shake. Your body is ridding itself of the excess nitrogen. It does this by peeing:

Interesting..

Thanks!

But why don't I have to pee like that after a big steak, for example?

Because the proteins in your shake (whey and casein from the cc) are broken down a heck of a lot quicker than the steak. Thus, faster AA and nitrogen delivery

Ah..

So nothing to be done, then, I guess..

Skip the shakes, or stay close to a bathroom..

dougz,
I'm in the same boat!
I drink a full liter of shake - I put a bit of rice milk and most of it is water!
Within about 1 hour I do run to the bathroom and will run a few times in a row!
