Ok, this might be a silly question. I eat 2 eggs for breakfast every day. Now I'm in a rut for lunch protein. Usually it's cheese. Normally I avoid eggs the rest of the day to not overdo them, is that silly? Am I just stuck on the 'don't eat too many eggs' thing? Would eggs be better lunch choice than cheese even if I already eat 2 every day? Not every day, but here and there?
I don't think eggs are better than cheese, but both are just fine. There's really nothing wrong with anything in eggs OR cheese. As long as you can get the amounts of P and F that you want, and are satisfied, go for it.
wow only 2 a day and worried about overdoing it, huh? I have 3 in my PWO shake, i often have 3-4 for bfast with fresh veggies and usually once more during the day I have another 3 in a whey shake. now you got me wondering if I'M overdoing it!
LOL - its all corn (maize, for you CW types ) anyway. As is beef, pork, chicken - that's what they all eat. Two a day is moderate consumption by what I read. I eat three.

That's true in the US, and I feel sorry for you. I can't stand the taste of corn-fed beef, let alone the health repercussions. Up here in Alberta, finding natural grass-fed or mostly grass-fed red meat is pretty easy.

Do you eat anything else? lol
I think they're probably fine. I'm yet to find any research against eggs, so whatever works for you. The planning ahead thing can do wonders though
with yokes? My Dad just went through this phase where he ate 4 eggs a day, and his cholesterol has went up 60 points or so . . and they told him to cut way back. It was at 228 when he was in the hospital ER a couple of weeks ago
I never thought you could overdo eggs either, but now I wonder. ??

Genetics will play a fairly large role here also. I have read that people are classified as either hypo or hyperresponders to dietary cholesterol (not sure if it was tested from just eggs or any type), and obviously that would make a big difference.
Everything I've read about eggs in the last couple years has basically said that their cholesterol content is a non-issue. Some have gone as far as saying that linking high cholesterol to diet in any major way is inaccurate, and that physical activity and genetics are the key factors.

He eats a lot of soup (mostly clam chowder/chicken noodle) .. . for a good part of that time, he was eating the eggs twice a day, and then like one Little Debbie snack cake per day.
He drinks water and sweet iced tea. He was having a lot of teeth trouble, so no hard or crunchy foods. Since then, he has had all his top teeth taken out (in prep for dentures) so he is still on soft foods.
His diet is not 'clean', and he does eat too many sweets, but I wouldn't have thought of it as high in cholesterol.
Like I said, I am not trying to blame the eggs, but the doctors and dietitians all jumped on that the moment we brought them his 'list of regular foods'

one could easily blame the sodium intake in the soups as the precursor to high cholesterol. Or, if he's eating clam chowder, cream soups may or may not contain trans fats... depending on how much their processed....
other things the doctors skipped over:
the fact that fructose has been shown to raise cholesterol for people, or, the lack of fiber in the diet.
not that any one of these things directly caused high blood cholesterol levels in your dad. I'm just pointing out the fact that there are a lot of things in his diet that could have been targeted by his doctors, but weren't.
I still don't understand why eggs still get a bad rap from doctors. One of the most perfect foods there is.

Totally agree. Definitely sounds like it's from the sugar and possibly sodium contributing much more than eggs.
When I added 2 eggs a day to my diet my cholesterol dropped 70 points. OK, I also added fish oil and I have an otherwise excellent diet--whole foods and very little sugar--but just sayin'.
I have/had familial hyperlipidemia. As far as I can tell when it is this genetic condition, dietary cholesterol has very little to do with blood cholesterol. Not an expert though. : )

Most people have a predisposition to whether or not dietary cholesterol will effect them more or less. But for the most part, I think it's a very minor contributor in general. Good work
A high carb & total calorie intake will influence cholesterol levels much more negatively than eating eggs do.
I used to hit 11 a day (4 whole & 7 egg whites), but have done the math and came to the shocking conclusion that chicken boobs are cheaper than egg whites.. throwing out yolks raises their costs by a huge extent if you're recalculating towards costs per 100g of protein (as a macro). So nowadays it's often just the breakfast omelette (2 WE+2 EW) & chicken for lunch..
Christine, tell that cheap husband of yours to let you go to the grocery store and buy a variety of food!
I actually love to eat eggs too... The WHOLE egg. My cholesterol is very low.
Why don't you make tuna salad (from canned tuna)? Dice some pickles and throw in some shredded cheese and celery with mayo. Maybe even throw in some boiled egg! Nummy! Another one of my staples. I now make my own mayo too:
One egg
2 cups canola oil (or olive oil or grapeseed oil)
1/3 cup of vinegar of your choice (I like balsamic or blood-orange infused)
teaspoon lemon juice
tbsp kosher salt
tsp or 2 of red chili pepper
Blend with hand blender for about 30 seconds and voila! Perfect mayo. Throw a dollop on a salad and toss it or put it in your tuna or chicken salad.

We learned in nutrition that blood cholesterol is not affected by food cholesterol. Saturated fat and trans fat affect blood cholesterol much more.

It's not completely unaffected by dietary cholesterol, it's just a much smaller degree. Trans fat is the biggest culprit. Even certain types of saturated fat don't negatively effect cholesterol, though they definitely do effect it.
