Default Rice Milk v's cow's Milk in Protein shakes

Hi, I've tried searching the forum for posts on rice milk but couldn't really find an answer whether there would be a problem switching from full cream cow's milk to rice milk for use in protein shakes? I would be using this combination for muscle gain. I know rice milk is lower in protein and higher in carbohydrates but I wasnt using the protein or carbs in cows milk as a source in my diet anyway. Is there anything else in cow's milk that isnt in rice milk that would aid muscle gain, or vice versa... and why does everyone mix their protein powder with cow's milk?

For one, cow's milk is cheaper and has been around forever. People like how it tastes, so even if they knew nothing about what sugars or fats or vitamins or proteins it has, they would still go with cow's milk if they don't have an intolerance. So why they use cow's milk is both out of practicality and because they know it does the job. Protein is well absorbed. The sugars are great for post workout nutrition.

I don't see how mixing your shake with rice milk instead of cow's would impair your muscle gain, if your protein and calorie intake is set adequately. You might be missing on the effects of lactose and the dairy proteins, but I doubt it will be to a visible extent.

unless you're using soy protein, the protein powder (whey, cassein) is dairy....

I hear people like almond milk too. I'm guessing it would have more nutrients than rice milk.

I use water too.... Do you think I will lose my muscles???!! Accck!

I have to think that it matters not especially if you consider the big picutre at the end of the day and make sure that you are hitting your cals and then your macros for the day.

Ryan Price - I love my protein shakes with rice milk. I find that rice milk and water are more easily digested than cow's milk.

Galya - I buy organic milk and it's more expensive than rice milk. Also, I often get my rice milk on sale and that's when it's way less than my organic milk.
