Question Homemade Almond Milk

Hello, yes a newbie here (Love it here). I am reading FLTS and getting my plan for nutrition and training set. I recently have been making my own almond milk and absolutely love it.

I have a set recipe, but was thinking of adding 6 cups water instead of the 5. Does anyone know how to figure calories, etc. on the homemade stuff?? Any help would greatly be appreciated, thanks
Here's the recipe:
PS I LEAVE OUT THE SALT, VANILLA AND PRUNE

For sweeter add another date. You can also add a tsp. of vanilla extract or one vanilla bean for more flavor. This will last up to four days in the fridge.
5 Minutes to Prepare and Cook

Ingredients

1 cup Raw Almonds
5 cups Water
1 Pitted Date
1/2 tsp. Sea Salt

Directions

Makes 5 1-cup servings.
Add all ingredients to a blender. Blend on high for 60 seconds. Filter milk through cheese cloth or a nut milk bag into large bowl. Transfer filtered milk into storage container. Remaining almond peices can be used in other recipes or smoothies

I don't understand the question I guess. Just add up the ingredients and divide by number of servings like any other recipe.
I'd just discount whatever is left in the strainer - or you could weigh it and then subtract it appropriately from your recipe total

Looking at my post, I see how it was confusing, sorry. You did answer my question, thank you.

FitD,

Do you find it cheaper to make your own almond milk instead of buying it at the store?

Raw Almonds are quite expensive.

I don't think that it is cheaper per se. I buy a bag of raw almonds at Trader Joe's for around $4.50 and make about 15 cups almond milk and try to use the almond meal for baking etc. Almond Breeze has 4 8fl oz. per carton and I think the cost is $1.99 at Trader Joe's. I like that my homemade version doesn't contain sodium and other additives and I can adjust it to my liking.

If you put your recipe into a cooking site like recipezaar.com, it should give you at least a ballpark figure of what the finished product will be.

Interesting post by the way - I'd heard of almond milk, but that was in connection of a Medieval cooking site which said that's that cooks then used instead of cow's milk as it didn't spoil as quickly.
