You know how hard it is to stir that natural peanut butter the first time you open the jar? Drove me crazy until.......this great idea!
Take your hand mixer and attach one of the beaters. Now, hold on to the jar TIGHT and put the beater in the PB and turn on the mixer to LOW. This totally mixes up the PB in about 10 seconds. Perfect!

Smuckers sells a little gizmo that fits their jars for stirring peanut butter. I haven't tried it though.

The beater works better than the Smucker's gizmo and better than a knife and better than a spoon and better than a fork and better than turning the jar upside down. I've tried them all.
I'd have to agree, Jane, the rest of the traditional ways mostly just suck. But some people have low standards and you can't help that, they'll never know what you mean. Just be happy that now I will have a reason to lick the beater free of PB as a meal every time we get a new jar.
Does anyone make their own peanut butter with a grinder? Seems like this would be the best solution, as you could just put it in the fridge and never need to stir it.
Of course, you'd be cleaning the grinder afterwards....
Anyone have a grinder that they would recommend? I'm thinking about trying this. Maybe it would save money in the long run. And I'd be able to make almond butter, which just sounds delicious.
We get fresh ground from whole foods (and they have lots of diff, including almond butter, and peanuts w/choc chips in there) and it's ok, but it tends to be dry without a bit of added oil/not finely enough ground, and it still kinda separates by the time we get home… enough that the bottom is more dry than the top. (Is positively noms tho to use as a dip for CheeseIts.)
Yes.....sigh......such a pity that nobody will realize what a superior method this really is. Just me, you and Jill!
I think we need video.

This is hilarious. Did you see the other peanut butter mixers Amazon is suggesting? Who knew that there is a whole industry around stirring natural peanut butter!
I'm definitely trying this next time, Jane. Turning it upside down only partially mixes the stuff I get. And at least I'll only be licking the beater, instead of what I usually get into: the knife, the side of the jar, and even the counter sometimes(j/k).
