interesting... i though cereals, especially sugary ones, wouldn't be a good post workout snack.
what is the reasoning that it is?
It's my understanding that cereal is pretty good pwo really because they are fairly dense in carbohydrates. Eating those with a protein source sometime after training, is pretty ideal for your body needs at the time....depending on the type of prior training that had taken place and/or your caloric goals/needs.

I truly love cereal. There are probably 10 boxes in my house right now...at least.
Kashi Go lean has added protein, and while I realize it's not as much as a protein shake would be, I often eat it after lifting. So I hope AA is not going to nix this. I just wont' come back and read this thread again, that's what I'll do.

Haha yeah, and also they way I feel later in the day and next day in terms of recovery. After lifting (especially legs), if I don't get some kind of carbs 1-2 hours after lifting, I will feel like total crap and get unusually sore.
You know I have to clarify something after reading your post. I do eat Autumn cereal from Kashi BUT I also have 1.5 hits of protein and a handful of almonds as well. Just eating the cereal for POW would not be AA approved I think. Probably too much carbs to protein ratio.

As for eating starchy carbs outside of the immediate pre or posttraining period, it all depends on how they impact the bigger picture of your caloric surplus (or deficit).
I think I'm going to try this....I love chocolate milk! Can I ask a question? If I were to drink this, say in the locker room after my weights, what is the optimal time I should wait before I eat another meal? For 2 years I have eaten 6-7 times a day, and to be honest, I find that i am more full, less cranky and just plain nicer to be around eating 4 bigger meals....sooooo I would want to wait a bit between this shake and a meal

4 bigger meals sounds a lot less like a pain in the ass than 6-7. Unless, of course, you like pains in the ass.

lol -- not unless it's from squatting
thanks....now this may sound stupid, but I was at one point, put on a plan that had me eating no carbs prior to a leg workout and then only slow digesting ones after in an effort to balance out my frame (lifting really heavy and eating lots on days I did upper body)....is this something that makes sense?
