Default Food Prep Suggestions

A question I received from one a client.
fficeffice" />
Question: Have you ever written an article on food preparation made easy? I am always looking for time saving tips on how to do things in the kitchen or with shopping/planning etc.

Answer: Food Prep suggestions:

Prepare your food in advance
When cooking meat cook more than you will eat in one serving
Invest in some storage containers
Have a list when you go to the grocery store
Get rid of the food in your house that is not part of the eating plan. Of
course this is impractical if you live with other people. In that case
designate a particular area for your food.
Don't grocery shop when hungry (after watching a All you can eat buffet
commercial)
Don't expect other people to follow your diet
Don't expect other people to not eat tempting foods in your presence
Don't expect help from no one you determine your success
Don't be afraid to add non-caloric additives to your food
Don't worry about artificial sweetener consumption killing you (Bs made up
by people with commercial interests)

Thanks

I've found it tremendously helpful to plan out what I intend to have at each meal for the upcoming week. This makes "Prepare your food in advance" a lot easier and everything else falls into place. I'll use my personal and work calendars to identify times when I can't eat at home, and will tweak my other meals to account for extra calories.

If you have a microwave and a refrigerator/freezer at work:

-Get some Ziplock Steam Bags
-Buy some fresh or frozen veggies...enough for a couple days and stick a meal's worth into one of the steam bags.
-Buy some lean meats and cook them and freeze them in bulk
-Put a meal's worth of lean meat in another ziplock steam bag and take both to work and store in the fridge or freezer
-Heat the steam bags separately in the microwave (usually about 4-5 minutes a piece depending on contents)
-Enjoy

You can have a great tasting, kick ass healthy meal ready to eat and only spare about 10 minutes of your lunch break.
