Default Ground Flaxseed Meal

I have a bag of ground flaxseed meal, and I was wondering if it could be used in a blender. I've read things before that the seeds must be ground or they pass right through. I've also read that if you ground them too much, they're ineffective. So I was wondering if blending ground flaxseed meal would render it ineffective. Blending would last about 45 secs.

It depends on what you're planning to do. If you're making a smoothie or something in the blender and add some flaxseed meal to it, the blender will just whisk the meal into whatever you're making.

If you put the flaxseed meal alone into the blender and grind it up into a really fine powder, I don't think it really becomes "ineffective" but the resulting heat might alter the omega-6 structure a bit. I wouldn't get too hung up over it, though.

AHA!
I put the flax meal in my smoothie on.........er.....Monday? or Tuesday....(dates arn't important) any who, it didn't disolve or anything, I could clearly see little flax seed chunks loitering about in my smoothie. So If you don't mind the extra texture then go ahead and try it

I've done it. It certainly changes the taste a bit, but, I don't mind. Thanks.
