Diet, Nutrition and SupplementationPost here for supplement reviews or nutritional advice. If you're trying to get "ripped abz" THIS is where you should be.
Hi everyone. I was doing the TNT diet and NROL beginning last March through August, took a trip to Cancun and allowed myself to eat whatever I wanted (some carbs and red wine basically) and came back even a few pounds lighter- looking great! :-)
I was really happy with how I looked but wanted to push even harder and try something different to see if I could get increased results (a little leaner, a little more definition, etc)
So, I attempted to switch to a macro-counting diet which I BLEW by thinking that I could go back to my pasta cheat meal(s) and red wine...it got out of control. I seriously think I am addicted to that scampi/pasta.
I also started training one body part per day....none of this yielded any results for me and in fact, I have peaked at 200 lbs- a weight I have NEVER been before. And I can assure you it is NOT muscle gain.
All the work I did to get to that point in Cancun has been undone and I am very disappointed in myself. I really let myself go and get out of control since returning from Cancun. I was doing just fine on TNT/NROL and then decided to 'switch it up' and that's what killed me. I needed to stick with what was working.
So, I am back, refocused and going to go back to TNT as I am now doing NROLW. Going to read TNT when done posting here and start up this weekend and see how long it takes me to get back to where I was.
For any new people on TNT- it does work (at least it did for me) and if it ain't broke, don't fix it!!!! I learned the hard way.
Good luck! I don't follow TNT directly, and right now I am eating oatmeal most days as well as other generic crap, and it probably won't change to much till after xmas.
HOWEVER. I aim to eat in a style like that, ie no grains, veggies and meats (I eat fruit too)
Like you said, it worked before it can work again.

What's on your grocery list? For me, when I start low carbing. The first couple weeks is not too clean. Lots of pepperoni, sausage, cheese etc. But once I get used to the lowered carbs I make the switch to leaner proteins (chicken, fish) and healthier fats( avocado, EVOO, fish oil etc). But for some reason I can't jump right into "healthy low carb". Good luck and I'll definitly keep u updated once i get going. It's always nice to have a diet buddy!
So, anyone else hopping back on the Plan A bandwagon to start off the New Year?

I was starting today, but we went out for dinner tonight for my wife's birthday and I ate a little bit of rice with my mongolian lamb. And a little bit of my kid's veggie tempura.
Somehow over the last few months I managed to find a spare twenty or so pounds that I need to give back.

I'm somewhat in. Doing the dang Weight Watchers again, I don't think it's for me, my frame is to big. 6'3 240, to eat 30points which is only 1500 calories a day.
What do you think?
Where is this TNT diet you are all talking about?
By the way, you all look great.

I started NROL on the 5th, and I am starting TNT Plan A today. I used last week to start really cutting the carbs back to a minimum so the change wouldn't be such a shock to the stystem. Hopefully It will work out ok. Any things to be aware of? I remember when I quit smoking that I had to have some work arounds for temptation - are the similar work arounds for the effects of not eating carbs?

My weeks have been a real struggle and my time in the gym- weak! I think the first few weeks of work this year have been brutal, so I lost my initial focus!
there I was all EXCITED to start back on TNT,. and Ive blownit....but only temporarily!!! I am getting back on track and I am also starting B12 shots.
I think that will help kickstart my success.
I usually go cold turkey with Plan A, so I have no advice on slowly starting, but then again I don't really even have any withdrawals from Carbs.
TNT was not for me. I tried it a few different times and could not stick with the plan. It seemed as though I could make it through a couple of weeks and see some progress and then I would get derailed by the flu or some other illness. This happened to me 3 separate times and I eventually decided to move to more of a balanced eating approach with more fruits and whole grains and it has worked much, much better for me. I guess it boils down to different strokes for different folks.
I don't regret the purchase of the TNT book at all though because there are still some good principles in it, some really delicious recipes, and the workouts alone designed by Cosgrove are worth the price of the book, IMO.
It seems like there is a trend to this thread of deviating from the TNT plan, failing, and then restarting the plan with hopes that it will work this time. If it doesn't work the first couple of times, it probably won't work for you in the long run.
The key to losing fat isn't the process, IMO, any "diet" practiced with consistency will lead you to fat loss, it is your ability to change your lifestyle and maintain your new body that really counts because there is no such thing as a quick fix. Sure, you may lose fat with a quick approach, but you are going to gain it back as soon as you quit the plan. If you are satisfied with a yo-yo diet cycle, then so be it. As for me, I found that I needed to tailor my fat loss approach to what I found worked best for me and what was the simplest for me to stick with over time, and that involves a more balanced approach.
Defiant1- you make some GREAT points. I think I hate you LOL!!!! I will give it another go and see how it goes.
When I allow myself to have normal amounts of carbs, it's too much counting for me and I can't stand to track all the marcos other lifestyles require.
knowing to NOT eat carbs for one month is an easy number- ZERO. From there, adding a few in teh morning or at lunch is fine, even a cheat meal from time to time...
I do gotta get a handle on this now...I hit a max weight that I never thought I would. Being sooo tall, I didn't notice the weight, but looking back at pics of just being 180- wow, big difference.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts...you've got me thinking again!!! UGH!
Probably gonna back off this TNT diet - or at least plan A. I'm down to 168 pounds @ 6', and I've been getting comments that I'm getting too thin. My BF is down to 8.6%, and it's just not agreeing with my head. I think 10 days of this is enough for me. I think there are some great parts about this diet, and it may be appropriate for me a a point where I need to really shed pounds, but I don't right now. I want to put on weight and from a caloric stand point I can't meet my needs on protein and fat alone. Maybe the key for me, in regards to carbs, is the timing: early morning, Pre and Post WO and not at night and avoiding feeding hunger with a quick fix of carbs.
We'll see, but I just can't stay with Plan A at this point.
