Default Training in a fasted state

Opinions?

More to the point, what would be the benefit (if any) to training in a fasted state (18-24hrs.)

I have seen some real success with intermittent fasting, and was just curious...

I can't see much benefit.
Whether or not to bother I guess depends on whether you can manage it without passing out.

That IF guy says you can train while in the middle of a fast. I can't help but think that a meal an hour or two ahead of time, plus maybe a shake would make your workout better if strength is important to you right now.

If your goal is strictly fat loss and you're using Intermittent Starving to drop some lbs, then a low volume workout to retain muscle is probably fine. You won't be setting any records or making PRs, I think.

in a weight loss mode at the moment, PRs are relatively unimportant to me...

no point training fasted IMO, at least have a whey shake preWO. whats your reasoning for working out fasted? you will lose more weight, because you will lose muscle and fat, while you could maintain the muscle and lose the fat (better longterm)

Here's an article on fasted cardio and why it's not optimal:

The lower the intensity the less it'll matter (negatively). You may even see some benefit if you're busting out some serious hrs on a low and slow. If you're doing anything at a higher threshold you're pretty much shooting yourself in the foot. You'll gas in 3min and never get it back resulting in less calories burned per session.

Assuming that you're on a legitimate diet (counting calories) you'll PROBABLY see little to no difference in fat loss between fasted and unfasted. If you want to fast, and think it'll make a difference just plan your activities in accordance with your nutrition.
