Hey everyone I want to know if there is any alternatives to whole wheat bread. The reason I ask is because I find that if I have to much fiber before a run it upsets my stomach. I would try a refined carbohydrate type but they take out all the nutrtients in that refined carbohydrate. What would be the best alternative(ex rye, pumpernickel) I am just looking for an alternative that has the nurteitn densisty of whole wheat, but less fiber. Any help would be great.

just go read the labels at the grocery store for the brand you are used to and then look around for something else - if it is fiber (and not gluten) you are trying to avoid it should be pretty easy.
Yeah, Lisa, that's what I'd say.
It's way easier to just go look. The variance of fibre is staggering. I find a lot of breads are actually fairly low in fibre, actually, and I find myself looking for the ones higher.
also, you can easily tell what you're already eating to know what "less" would be… we don't.
And, the refined white breads DO have the nutrients (added back in), that's why it's enriched flour.
They have some nutrients added back in, but not all, and there are some little extras thrown in for good measure. Folate, for instance. But, the germ, bran, and fiber are gone forever.
I say to eat some other bread and don't worry about the micronutrients of your bread before a run. Almost all whole GRAIN breads are going to have similar problems, as they all have wheat as the primary. Rye is just a small part of the mix of rye bread. Pumpernickle is rye with molassis added for the darkness and sweetness. It's almost impossible to find either in whole grain varieties. Just give it up, Chris.
Or, have fruit, cooked veggies, potato, corn tortillas, rice (but brown rice can be worse than ww bread on the belly).
Keep in mind that that meal is a small part of your weekly diet and it's like 150-200 calories. That's like a sports drink worth of calories, and most athletes don't worry about the emptiness of their Gatorade.
As long as you are getting nutrients in after your run and throughout the day there is no need to have nutrient dense foods pre-workout. They are all going to be broken down to glucose for energy anyway so I suggest finding anything that is easy on the stomach and works for you.
But in nutrtion we learend that all they have in the white bread or "wonder bread" is the calories or the endosperm.

What's "too much fiber?" The average whole wheat slice only has about 2 grams of fiber.
Is there a reason you MUST have bread pre-workout? Why not just eat something else that's easy on your stomach, and save the bread for another meal?
