Default Anyone going to start bulking in Jan/Feb?

Just wondering out loud.. is there anyone here who's anti-KISS enough to be defying the natural rules and is dieting during the holidays but wants to start on a bulk in the new year?

I'm just not quite there yet (still 2-3 kg to go to desired BW) but boy am I ever ready for a bulk when that flab is gone.. And if anything, I'd really love to start eating up on January 1.

What's the stupidity of dieting after January 1 anyway, when the weather is even more miserable, the sun is still not back and so on, so forth?

For the record: sunrise 8:37am, sunset 4:25 pm.. yes, we are light-deprived over here.

If you can ever tell a female is bulking then she is either not doing it right or using drugs. So with that, for females, anytime of the year is a good time

Hah.. most women are deluding themselves if they do the bulk in the same way as men do. My accidental bulk of last year (started late November thru late Feb) generated a 50/50 ratio of fat/LBM AFAIK.. and I was only eating about 100-200kcal above mtn.
Accidental as it was meant to be a period of maintenance but as it happens, maintenance is very hard to achieve...

But really, right now I'm cutting modestly and am quite in the groove of it. Actually, the holidays don't make me go off the diet too much as it is quite the enjoyable time of year to see the decorations etc.

But January? February? Dreary dreary dark days w/o any distraction.. except then for Carnaval which is pretty big in the South here (South of the NLs that is).. but not so much for a near-abstainer.
One either needs to flee for the sun or to drown himself in food

As soon as I'm given the clear by my doc and am able to get back in the gym, I'm planning on starting a bulk (I'm hoping for end of this month, beginning of Jan).
I was doing a slight cut as well before some health issues derailed me, now I'm just maintaining.

I'm a guy, and I can't imagine doing a bulk again. Never be fatter than you like to be. Ever.

I don't care how long it takes to put on 5 more lbs of muscle, if it takes looking less lean, I'm happy to stay where I am. But, it doesn't have to be that way. Unless you're under the gun, take it slow. Say no to the bulk.

I'll guess that will make me feel happier about my everlasting cut interspersed with culking. At least I've managed to dip down ever lower on the BW-scale w/o losing strength.

That's the thing that terrifies me most of cutting.. losing so much strength you have to stop working out or modify them in such a way you can still do the minimum.

Anyways.. the actual reason I asked was simply that everyone is eating up NOW and then starts restricting come January 2. Apparently you guys aren't affected by SAD? SAD is my worst enemy.. seriously.
Five or six years ago, the first snow storm of the year, sent me into at least an 8000 kcal binge when I stayed home with a ton of comfort foods, instead of leaving for a pleasant weekend with others. Thank goodness for fullspectrum day lights.. but still.

Not a lot of SAD in Southern California, but the US has it's share up north, especially in the snowier areas.

If I'm on a big deficit, I only lose strength if I workout too much. So, don't do that. Workout less, with less volume, save your CNS, because it can't recover as well without calories.

Before starting to answer that actually, the year isn't supposed to start on January 1 anyway, but on March 1, I checked : Julian calendar - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and apparently things are tons more confusing than I ever thought.

Yet, I'll stick to my version of it.. a much simpler one: 'my' year will only start on March 21. That's the only truthful start of the year when spring is here astronomically speaking
Who's sharing my POV?

I will be bulking from Jan-March timeframe. I have put on 13lbs already on this go around and am still in the same clothing that I started in. In my clothing nobody notices the gain. In the gym everyone is noticing. By March I hope to be even bigger but maybe not much more weight. Alan has me culking right now so we'll see.

The shoulders are getting tight in my shirts, quads are starting to stretch against the jeans and I have to pull hard over the glutes now to get the little jeans on... LOL!

I've been bulking for a few weeks now. It really is the perfect time of year to do such a thing.
