Folate, vitamin B(6), and vitamin B(12) are thought to play an important role in cancer prevention. A study by Zhang et. al. (2008) evaluated the effect of combined folic acid, vitamin B(6), and vitamin B(12) treatment on cancer risk in women at high risk for cardiovascular disease. 5442 US female health professionals aged 42 years or older, with preexisting cardiovascular disease or 3 or more coronary risk factors, were randomly assigned to receive either a daily combination of folic acid, vitamin B(6), and vitamin B(12) or a matching placebo. They were treated for 7.3 years from April 1998 through July 31, 2005. Daily supplementation of a combination of 2.5 mg of folic acid, 50 mg of vitamin B(6), and 1 mg of vitamin B(12) or placebo. Zhang concluded that folic acid, vitamin B(6), and vitamin B(12) treatment had no significant effect on overall risk of total invasive cancer or breast cancer among women during the folic acid fortification era.
There actually has been evidence with vitamin D. Also in nutrtion class the professor stated that a mega dose of Folate can increase the risk of Colon Cancer.

Vitamin D status differs by latitude and race, with residentsof the northeastern United States and individuals with moreskin pigmentation being at increased risk of deficiency. A PubMeddatabase search yielded 63 observational studies of vitaminD status in relation to cancer risk, including 30 of colon,13 of breast, 26 of prostate, and 7 of ovarian cancer, and severalthat assessed the association of vitamin D receptor genotypewith cancer risk. The majority of studies found a protective relationship betweensufficient vitamin D status and lower risk of cancer. The evidencesuggests that efforts to improve vitamin D status, for exampleby vitamin D supplementation, could reduce cancer incidenceand mortality at low cost, with few or no adverse effects.
