Default Which protein/supplements should I use? Back in the gym for a month now...

Yea! Hurra! It will be 1 month this week since I have been back in the gym regularly!! I joined Gold's after over 10 months of not belonging to a gym and working out from home. I must say that it was a bit hard to get back into it, but there is nothing like having that much variety in equipment and a view (yes, the handsome muscle guys, LOL).

I'll tell you - nothing gets me wanting to work out more than the handsome magazine-cover-looking regulars. ;-)

Anyway, enough excitement about the gym...

I need to get some protein this week as I am out and wanted advice on what to get. I'd prefer not to spend too much on it. I will be at Costco this week and heard that they have a good protein there?

My goals:

Lean out. I still have fat on my lower tummy, butt, upper legs, hips. At the same time, my strength is way down and I really want it back. I guess that's what happens when you don't lift heavy for a a few months...

I want to 1st lean out, and then try to put on some bulk, while still looking lean. I love a fitness figure type of body and mine right now is well - normal; not that hot and lean.

My diet is not being measured now, but I am keeping my carbs a low as possible, eating 4-5 meals a day and trying to get my protein and water intake up.

I would love a protein that would give me the energy, the vasodilation I used to like and the POWER to lift heavy and lots.

When I'm in the gym, I am often low on energy. I go around 7 p.m. and to bed around 1 a.m.

I tried Redline (Princess line) and that got me going, but it's expensive at ~$5/bottle at the gym.

So, if you could please recommend a tasty and not too expensive good protein packed with BCAAs, low on carbs and with lots of energy it can offer, that would be super.

Oh, it would be great if it had my glutamine intake in it and anything else I should be taking. I hate swallowing pills and am only taking vitamins and Omega 3 6 9 capsules.

Oh, one more thing - if you have any suggestions for how I can have max energy for workouts in the evenings, please let me know... Diet/supplements etc. ;-)

Thank you!

Anna

I looked up this Redline. There's no protein in it at all. It's purely an energy drink. If you're wanting an energy drink, but want something with less kick than PO'd stallion, you might consider diluting a redbull or such into whey and water.

Look at this (a quick google turned this up):

Energy Drink Ratings and Reviews

But you might not want to listen to me as I've NEVER consumed an energy drink.

Personally, my energy is a bowl of oats, boiled in fruit and milk, and a coffee big gulp, still light on sugar, heavy on cream.

BCAAs is controversial in that some coaches advocate them, some nutritional experts say we get plenty in a proper diet so supplementing with 5g is like adding a drop to a tub of water.

Just get some protein to supplement a good diet. There are enough BCAAs in protein if you eat enough. nix the energy drinks and drink coffee or green tea instead.

If you like the energy drinks and want to keep drinking them, avoid redlines IMHO. It's just too concentrated and easy to over do it. I would also be careful drinking them too late in the day since it can mess up your sleep. Carbonated ones like Red Bulls also don't sit too well pre-workout.

I use 1/2 a Speed Stack each morning to get me going for my workouts. I buy them from a guy in the gym by the case. It ends up working out that I pay 2.25 each, so my daily cost is only a little over $1.

I've always used a product called super pump 250. Definitely gets you the energy to get through the workout. I tend to go to the gym late at night after work and need the energy by the end of the day. Claims it helps drastically to reduce body fat and helps you build muscle much faster.... I dunno about all that, but it definitely gives the energy! It comes in good flavors to. Lemon and fruit punch are the best so far... avoid the blue berry.
I don't tend to have trouble sleeping after I take it because I ware myself out during workouts to exhaustion, plus the long day, but I know some people do. So be careful if you have to get up super early. also don't buy it at a health store, GNC sells it for $65 and its only like 30 on amazon
