Diet, Nutrition and SupplementationPost here for supplement reviews or nutritional advice. If you're trying to get "ripped abz" THIS is where you should be.
Does anyone use this for making smoothies? I have heard from several people that they are the cat's meow, but looking for more feedback on models before I pick one up.
They seem to have a full package for about $100 and a smaller version (single shot) for $40.
Any experiences?
Og

we have a small one and it is awesome. I use it for grinding oats to a powder. It works way better than a blender for this. I didn't know they made a larger version?!

Well they make two I can buy at my local Canadian tire. One looks full size, in that it comes with everything, and the other is maybe smaller with less accessories.

I use mine everyday probably. I make shakes out of cottage cheese, yogurt, PB protein. powder......also good for making batter for protein pancakes, or creamed cauliflower.
I just upgraded to the "larger" version which is newer. It's got studier mugs which are bigger, and has a couple more accessories, plus a stronger blender base. The original version that I had first still works great after 2.5 years of use though.
They grind up ice well, and the mugs have lids so you can save a shake for later or take it on the go with you. I think a magic bullet is well worth the money IMO.
I've had a knock-off from MagicBullet (don't even know if they are sold in Europe) and loved it.. used it nearly every day.
Then it died and somehow didn't go back to using the replacement version (not as strong as the original one). It would depend on what you'd want to use it for, but the really nice part is that you can take small amounts of food and prepare it without creating too much of a mess.
I'm also having a kitchen machine that rarely if ever gets used.. it's too freaking big. Fortunately it was a free gift, otherwise I'd have said: buy a Magic Bullet (or a sturdy knock-off) instead.
I had one and it broke pretty quickly.. maybe it was just a lemon.
It's cause you blended tuna.

Funny you said that about tuna, I'm sure it was a joke, but it's where I used it mostly for.
When trying to eat a higher protein , lowered fat diet, that doesn't cost an arm & a leg, tuna comes up pretty quickly. Too bad I hate the stuff after living on it for an entire (exxxpensssive Norwegian) holiday.
Really nice : mix tuna with pickled onions, gherkins and sambal (hot chili pepper paste), make it into a paste with the Magic Bullet (or its' derivate) and use this spread to fill boiled egg whites. Enjoy!
for those that have it, or any other blenders I have a question...
I've been making shakes but get very frustrated trying to get all of it out. I spend all this time calculating the contents in it and stuff is always stuck at the bottom. Does the bullet or any other blender alleviate this??
I don't know how it could get stuck??? Mine just pours right out. I make a shake every morning with 1 1/2 scoops PP, frozen banana slices, 1 T natural peanut butter, 5 icecubes. I blend for a few seconds in crushing mode and then turn it on full-tilt for about 30 seconds. Nice, smooth and pours right out. What's to get stuck?
Well I have had some blender issues recently, so I understand about stuff getting stuck. My blender (which was a b-day gift this past Feb) just died two weeks ago. Maybe it was the type of protein I had, or the blender just wasn't very good, but some of the PP would clump and stick to the bottom or the sides. My roommate had a JCPenny knock-off of the Magic Bullet which we used for a while, but it started smoking and grinding and basically becoming a fire-hazard so we had to throw it out. (I hope the magic bullet doesn't have this problem, as I'm thinking of getting one now that my blender is dead).
I LURVE my magic bullet xoxox. You absolutely can put meat in it . . it makes a great chix or ham salad. I think the sticking issues depends on how you put your ingredients in . . I layer wet, dry, wet and never have an issue. I purchased the online version that came with a large blender container but found I only use the smaller cups. I would buy the least expensive without all the doodads.
I will probably try the bullet. Mine always has protein powder and PB stuck to it, the protein powder might be the kind I bought, it's kind of cheap so I can correct that too. Thanks for the tips.

I may not do ice, but it works for shakes and pureeing stuff. I use one on a regular basis at the restaurant for making sauces, soups, dressings, ect. It is that only brand that has held up under the stress of a professional kitchen. I'm going on two years of abuse.
I also have one of these, but may be a little overkill for shakes :
That tuna shake really got its' life on its own. Somehow someone (Schwarzenegger?) joked he was having tuna shakes and then every bodybuilder had to try this to be hardcore.
This tuna thing is a spread... not a shake. A spread. And a yummy one to boot. Hmm reminds me to try this for the crab I've got lying around.
Ko, I've got that immersion blender from Braun too, but it's kinda messy compared to the smaller 'magic bullet' knock off. Less cleaning of the actual machine needed though.
I have seen a rechargeable one from cuisinart, but have never used it.
Hmmm...about the same cost as a corded with all the accessories.
I'm looking for something that can go to the gym with me (when I do go to the gym), though I'll need to run my oats through a coffee grinder before adding to the dry mix.

Not with the Braun I listed earlier. I would buzz all my shakes before leaving home. They stayed mixed for the rest of the day.

That's pretty expensive too. I only need to mix powder and milk so there is no clumps. A shaker bottle doesn't quite cut it, and I tried a cheaper mixer that also failed.
I'll keep doing consumer research. I won't need to buy for a couple months.
