Post workout equation??
I have a question, I understand that you want to get your protein directly after your workout. But, when should your next complete meal be??
For example, I have a my whey protein mixed with yogurt directly after my run/lift, then usually I have a meal with my protein. Would I be better off waiting an hour or so after my protein with yogurt?? Or does it matter at all??

I doubt it matters. Eat when you're hungry.

I think you're over thinking it. Eat within two hours.

I need that PWO drink. When going full tilt, it's the only sweets I get in my day.

True, but a simple PWO shake is alot easier for most people, who are too lazy to take proper pre or during training shakes. I still think the information is relevant, but as you said could be applied in better ways using pre/during workout nutrition. Maybe I should have linked this one?

"Then, once your workout is done, you’ll have a whole food meal within an hour or two of training." John Berardi
Because the reason I posted this question because I was wondering if your body could become over saturated with protein/carbs that your will just excrete them and not process them the way you want. Because I was reading this article and it said that after a workout, your body will not store carbs as fat.
Thanks for the help everyone.

I wouldn't worry about it; just get something into you after lifting. Soda, Gatorade, protein drink..Get something.

Other than the hilarious self-aggrandizing (WTF), that article is fine for competitive enduance-type sport activity lasting well over 90 minutes. The problem with discussing postworkout nutrition is a lack of defining the workout in the first place, let alone specifying the need (or lack of) for same glycogen-depleted muscles to be re-used in the same day. Not to mention, the preW meal is a crucial influencing factor on postW needs, and this is another thing rarely defined in these discussions. In the end, total amount of carbs in most cases is infinitely more important than form or timing.

Total amount of carbs more important than the form or timing. That sounds good to me! I personally just take a PWO shake as it's easier for me, I'm lazy, and I'd feel sick if I drank anything other than water before/during training.

The dergree to which going through your training bout on just water beforehand may not be that much of a detriment if you had a full sized mixed meal 60-90 minutes preW, because give a training bout that's about an hour long, you'll likely still be absorbing that meal even when the training bout is over. On the other hand, if it's been 3-4 hours since you've had a meal, and you go & train on just water, it doesn't matter how radical your postworkout sugarwheyliscious shake it, you're compromising protein synthesis was well as antiproteolysis. Nah mean bruh?

60-90 minutes before I train I have a whole food meal, and by the time I train I can't feel the food in my stomach. I thought pre-workout meant a bit closer, but I guess I do have a pre-training meal then. Looks like I'm doing okay, anyway ey?
