Default fat necessary for health

Is there a definitive answer or source of information for the question of how much fat to consume in a day to be healthy? I have heard but not sure where or if it's true, that you need .4 to .5 g per lb of lean mass in order not to screw up yourself hormonally.

Is that true?

I don't think it could be that high. A generous fat potion is 30-35%. for someone with a maintainance of 1500 calories, say weighing 135 pounds, that is 500 calories from fat, say 55 grams. Eating low carb I am well over 50% fat for my diet.

For light people 0.5g/lbs LBM isn't very high at all.
For me that's just 50g total and well below the intake I'm feeling comfortable at. I'm getting serious problems when I go below 70g total , which happens to be exactly 0.5g/lbs BW!
That's about 30% of total energy intake when eating at maintenance. I'd rather have my fats at around 35-40% of total intake.

However that same 0.5g/lbs LBM is quite possible for brief periods of time like up to a month, provided you do 'fat' refeeds once in a while.
