Diet, Nutrition and SupplementationPost here for supplement reviews or nutritional advice. If you're trying to get "ripped abz" THIS is where you should be.
Hey guys. Can any of you give me some suggestions on store-bought protein shakes, something you can find in a general supermarket. I also like it to be low carb. Currently, I'm drinking the Atkins diet shakes. It seems to be the best tasting of what I've tried but I'm looking to try some others. What do all of you drink? Thanks!

I'm assuming you mean pre-mixed drinks. So I'll ask, why pre-mixed when mixing from dry is all of about a two minute process?
I don't mind mixing from dry. I just don't want to have to always go to a specialty store to get them. I'm always having to go to the grocery store, so I'm hoping to find a good one that's available anywhere. The only GNC or health food store near me is like 20 miles away. Any suggestions?

EAS Myoplex are good. So are the Muscle Milk ones. But I think you'd be better served with a one hour trip every two weeks or so to get a tub of protein and make your own. Or even order online if you don't want to make the trip.
Personally I would look for a whey-casein blend of protein powder.

Perhaps you can make a trip out there every couple of months and just stock up. You will get better variety and probably better quality.

I've never seen a decent canned shake at the grocery store. All they ever have is Slimfast, Ensure, and other nasty ones. The Muscle Milk ones taste good. I think they have them at Target.
If you just need easy access to powder, Target has Body Fortress whey protein at a good price. They have EAS whey protein, for a little more money.
Trueprotein.com is a good source online. It's a lot cheaper and better tasting than the store bought brands, IMO.
There aren't a lot of low carb pre-mixed shakes at the store. I'm actually not aware of one I would be happy with so I travel with powder despite being very willing to pay a premium to be able to pick up a (low carb) pre mixed shake on the road.
I buy from trueprotein.com. It takes about as much time as it would to go a few aisles out of my way in a store.
Thanks everyone for all the tips! I'm going to give some of your suggestions a try. The only reason I have such a problem stocking up on is because they are SO expensive. But I'm starting to see there is really no way around it. I didn't even know that Target carried protein shakes. That might just be the answer for me. If I like what I find there, I'll be set. Thanks so much!

If you do the math (per g of protein), powders should always be cheaper. It's just the investment up front that makes it seem high. The $13 worth of powder from Target makes 45 shakes of 24g each.
