Default Protein Shakes - made in advance?

I'd really like to know if making a protein shake in advance is a bad thing.

I use a whey powder mixed in water with added glutamine. It may be up to 10 hours before I drink it ... I prepare them before I got to work, and I work a 10 hour shift.

(I have a real issue with textures, and prefer a shake that has been blended instead of shaken, if I have a choice.)

I've heard so many different answers to this it makes my head spin.

Another related question ... what about cooking with protein, i.e. homemade protein bars?

Thanks in advance for helping a newbie!
