Arrow CLA & Glucosamine

Since joining this board, I've been trying to read almost everything I can with doing the NROL4W program and am totally enjoying all the information. Thanks so much for being so knowledgable!!!

During my late night reading yesterday, I read a thread about the supplements that many of you take. I was happy to see that at least I do take the Omega-3's like many of you.

I did see that many of you take CLA. I was wondering if you could tell me if it really helps with weightloss and maintaining your lean muscle. What are your experiences with it since taking it?

The other supplement that I saw mentioned was Glucosamine. My knees ache constantly and even more so since starting the program. I'm betting that this may be a great supplement for me. Could you tell a difference after taking it for a week or two?

For both of these, are there any brands which you think stand out more than others? I stopped at GNC today but the prices were sky high. I'm thinking that ordering from Vitacost may be the better route (I get my ON Whey from there anyway).

Any information, recommendations, or testomonies would be greatly appreciated.

Hopefully others will chime in for you. I personally think glucosamine is a waste of money. CLA is a healthy fat. The claim that CLA will coat fat cells and stop their growth is a possibility but most likely not as effective as it's cracked up to be. Healthy fats do aid in fatloss from my research and experience.

Sore knees? What are you doing to cause them to be sore? Healthy fats like fish oil help with tissue inflammation -another reason for healhty fats. Increasing ankle/hip mobility tends to spare the knees - at least once the motor functions are properly learned. Higher protein intake as well. Protein is the main source behind pliability and strength of bone and connective tissue.

I can't say that I know what I've done to them, but ever since I was in my mid-twenties, my knees will ache while doing any kind of plyos or heavy lifting. After one particularly hard day of plyos my knees really swelled and I was in a ton of pain.....I packed my knees in ice that night and then continued through the pain the next day. I've just always had to deal with it.

Honestly, on most days they are fine. I knew that when I started all of the squats and lunges that I should expect the sore knees and I was right.

Nobody has any other comments? I thought I saw many of you taking both of these supplements. I just want other opinions before I go out and purchase them.

Just the opposite. Get someone knowledgeable to check your form for you. Same goes with plyos. Unless you lack the motor skill, you should not feel knee tension. Cop a few sessions from a decent trainer or sprts therapists. No need to purchase a package plan just a few consultations.
