Berardi's Gourmet Nutrition.
I have been on-the-fence about purchasing this book for awhile now. The only reason I haven't bought it is because I have sooooo many other healthy cookbooks. I have Eating For Life, Tosca's Clean Eating Cookbook, plus various books like the TNT diet, Metabolism Advantage which all have excellent recipes. (and many others)
For those who have this book, does it offer new recipes? Easy to prepare without a lot of weird ingredients? Also, is the ebook easy to deal with? I really prefer an actual book, but to save the money I'm considering buying the e-book on this one.
Thanks, Jodi

I bought the whole precision nutrition kit, which comes with the gourmet nutrition cookbook, along with calipers, special shake recipes and other goods. I certainly think its worthwhile, although i have had it since christmas and have only used about 4 recipes. I really enjoy the preludes he has to each section as it includes the science to why you should or should not eat certain things and the benefits.
The recipes are pretty straight forward although he does include some crazy seasonings that were tricky to find. But, I'm not very experienced in the kitchen so that could be my own ignorance.

Jodi--I too have been on the fence about this one because of the price. I would probably buy it if it were less $$ and in e-book form, but when I go to the site I only see it available as an actual book for 39.99 (for GN 2.0). My understanding is that the only way to get the original version of GN is to buy the whole PN package....am I wrong? If so, do you know how can I buy just the cookbook(s) in e book form?
Thanks!

Hmm...I use to have a link to where you can buy it as an ebook, but I'm now getting the same thing you're getting with it as an actual book at 39.95. If you go through JPFitness here, it says 29.95, but you click on the link and it changes to the 39.95. I wonder if you can't buy it as an ebook now. Bummer.

there's 2 editions of the GN cookbook. First one used to be available as an e-book but not anymore. Only way to get it now is as part of the PN package. And is only a hard copy book now.
New one, GN 2.0 is sold separately, again only available as a hardcopy book. The weblink you mention must have taken you to the sale site for that one.
I have both books and like them, some good recipes and second one very nicely presented. However if you've got heaps of cookbooks already probably not so worthwhile for you.

Hi have the first GN book, and I can't say I'd recommend it. I found the measurements off in several places, and the calorie/macronutrient counts off in some recipes, too. I guess the trouble is that most recipes weren't created by professional cooks. They're not exactly bad, but you can find better. The Eating Well cookbooks are far better, in my opinion.
Once you know about nutrition, you can pretty much use any cookbook to suit your needs.

I have the original GN book, I never did spring for the newest version. I liked most of the recipes from that version. I agree with Laura's conclusion that some of the calories & macros weren't exactly correct, though.
One thing that always bothered me about that cookbook is the way the ingredients were written in the recipes. Normally ingredients are logged in the order they are used, however, in GN (v1.0 anyway), they are in no particular order. Not sure if they corrected that in v 2.0

In the same boat as Laura\Cynthia. Version 1. The recipes are good on the whole. The real kicker for me was the price vs content. For $40 you can get 2-3 pretty fantastic cookbooks w\ macros with several hundred recipes each. To each their own. As part of a bigger package it's probably pretty cool. As a stand alone it's overpriced (IMO).

If you want the original one I'll sell you mine. I never use it.

I have both Gourmet Nutrition and GN v2.0. I love both, but then, I didn't have a lot of other healthy cookbooks, so that may have made a difference. Of the two, I prefer the new GN 2.0... love having the color pictures, plus, in many instances, the recipes also list good side dishes to go with.
At any rate, I believe both books are only available now in hard copy. I got the original one with my whole PN package and ordered the other this past Christmas, as soon as it was announced.
JB made a post about the decision to only release in hard copy form on the PN forums, but I don't think I bookmarked the link.
I'm not an expert cook, so I really liked all the tips about how to do things.
But now I'm interested in checking out the Eating Well books... I might like them too!
Cynthia
