For me it is not heresay - splenda causes me to have seizure like episodes, severe headaches and I have even passed out! I have tested it too and it definitely is the splenda. It took me a while before I started having obvious effects - but I used a good bit of it. It made me feel so weird and spaced out too. I have to check everything, even cough meds and mouthwash, to make sure it has no sucralose. I know that I am in a very small percentage, but it makes me wonder why it would affect me in this way. It scared me enough to quit using mostly any artificial sweeteners, except occasional sugartwin. I like the Nunaturals no carb stevia, it is ok once your taste buds adapt and I have had no side effects. Anyhow, just speaking from my personal experience, not trying to tell anyone not to use it. It just does not work for me! My sister can't use aspartame - severe headaches, but she loves splenda. Go figure!!!

I'd like to comment further on the fact that we are talking about rats. I do believe that sodas might make you think your hungry whn you are not. Sodium dehydrates you and dehydration often takes the form of "hunger," or at least that's what our bodies think. But there are a lot of foods that have that effect and as humans, we have enough cognitive ability to know the difference between real hunger and perceived hunger. It's just something you have to work on. On the other hand, rats are just going off of instinct. The only thing the study shows to me is that soda dehydrates you. But we knew that already didn't we. Also, notice that the rats got fatter because they were eating more, not solely because of the soda. If soda makes you hungry, then either fight the urge to eat or just don't drink soda.

Its amazing the number of people who ignore human clinical trials to support rat trials.
