Default Bulking/cutting at the same time.

Yes, I know how awful the title of this thread is. But cut me some slack, I'm pretty dense.

I've read plenty of stuff about doing cycles of mini-bulks/mini-cuts. Say, eat big for 5 days, then diet it off on the weekend. Or vice versa.

These programs seem great in theory--gain muscle without fat, or burn lots of fat while keeping or even adding a bit of muscle.

But, has anybody actually done something like this with any success? Fancy articles are great, but experience trumps all.

Just a little background on me. 5'9", 192, lifting for a year and a half, and stuck in limbo right now. I'm at about 14%, and wouldn't mind getting a bit leaner. However, at the same time, I realize I have alot more growing to do and muscle to gain and don't want to hold my body back.

Thanks!

I've successfully eaten maintenance, maintained weight, lost body fat and size and increased strength and lean mass, all at once. Does that count?

stop worrying about gaining size. just focus on getting stronger, and if you're getting stronger (which you are), your size will come with little fat gain.

I don't like the idea of bulking for a few days then cutting. Just learn how to eat instinctively, where you eat more carbs on your workout days and around your workouts, and quality food choices.
