Default Dizzy

I am following TNT in week 3. Saw some nice results, but I think I have to stop...I have been dizzy now for the last 3 days...I have followed a low carb/ckd approach before but I was never dizzy. Any one else ever have that? Do you think it has any thing to do with the diet? I went to the Dr. he said my sinus and ears were clear.

I have high BP and am on meds for that, but I have been taking it for awhile (months) with no side affects.

track your food on fitday.com for a few days to see where you fall. Maybe you're not eating enough food or maybe not eating enough fat.

Have you checked our BP lately? Low blood pressure can make you feel dizzy.

you can also get a little dehydrated on the first few weeks of a lower carb diet plan.
So I agree:
1) check your food - make sure you are eating enough of everything, including those veggies and your fat and eating often enough
2) make sure you are drinking enough fluids without going overboard the other direction
3) double check your bp throughout the day. If you are improving your metabolism your medication needs might have changed and you might have to reconnect with your MD.

Low-carb diets often lower blood pressure, and sometimes significantly, depending on the underlying cause of the hypertension. Many people can not only reduce BP meds once adopting, but abandon them. In fact, you can end up face-down on the floor from the combined effect of low-carb + BP-lowering meds so don't take this lightly. Of course, you'll want to do make sure any changes in meds are under the supervision of your physician. I actually should have put quotes around all of that because that's what my friend, Dr. Mary Vernon, has found in her practice. She believes that high BP is often an early sign of insulin resistance, which helps explain why low-carb diets help reduce hypertension. (I posted on this briefly here: MH The Fitness Insider and also here MH The Fitness Insider)

Best wishes,
Adam

You're probably not getting enough calories. Eat some more.

Default Thanks for the responses

So I am now out of the a low carb eating style...I did this for two reason. 1- To see if the diet was the cause of the dizzyness 2- I want to see if the Dr. will allow me to come off the BP meds while doing the low carb, because I did notice that my BP was lower.

I also rad that allergies can cause light headedness. Although that has never been a symptom for me...I will keep you posted.

I am tracking fitday and will follow up with you all.

how will you distinguish between
a) diet causes dizziness
and
b) diet fixes your hypertension so you are now overmedicated and that is causing dizziness

or do you view them the same?

Good question.

I wanted to see if it was some related to low blood sugar. So if I am not dizzy while not on a TNT then it was the diet.

I dont think nor have I seen in the past that the diet has fixed the BP- I did however note that when I was 205 and spinning or running 2x a day my BP was lower, regardless of the diet.

I am two days with some moderate carbohydrate intake and I am still feeling a bit light headed. I have some type of infection in my eye (I have no freaking idea what the hell that is about, but they are itchy, and it is not pink eye) and maybe some allergy stuff going on, although my sinus feel clear.

The Dr. wants me to wait it out a week and then come back in if I am still feeling weird.

Update-

I came off my ACE about a week ago to see if that was the culprit. (after already being off of TNT). My BP has been good at home, when I go to the Dr. it is high, so we are thinking that I have a little White Coat fever. I started to follow TNT again on Monday.

I am still feeling not so much dizzy as disconnected. I am thinking that it has to do with allergies, and stress. I started to take some Allegra so I am waiting to see where I fall and I will update and let you konw.

Dr. says I can stop the medicine but I have to check the pressure everyday, and come back to him in a month.
