I thought Oreos were now "trans fat-free" and could be consumed with reckless abandon.

They are. Oreos are magical that way.
And if you twist them apart and eat the middle first, the calories don't even count at all.

This is not a case of dietary cholesterol not affecting blood cholesterol. It's an established fact that trans fats accumulate in the arteries and veins, harden, cause clotting, etc.
I had a very fit looking LTC in my reserve unit some 15 years ago, die of a massive heart attack at very young age (<50 I believe). While it may have been largely a genetic issue, you're focusing on an appearance of health, not a fact of health. Trim, healthy looking people die of cardio-vascular disease daily.
I'm also not saying he's wrong for living the way he is, it is afterall, his life. I do think he's wrong for promoting an eat-anything mentality.

the guys who compete in strength sports don't necessarily live the most healthy life outside of their diet, and the clogging of arteries by trans fat should be the least of their worries.
There have been quite a bit of competitors (a lot of lesser known ones) who have used dangerous recreational drugs because of the thrill and adventure seeking aspect of them.
There are a surprisingly large number of strength athletes who are using EPO in their arsenal. I can tell you at least 1 very well known athlete who has used this. This is VERY dangerous, moreso than a lot of stuff in terms of doping.
This is not to say that anyone on elitefts has done these things. That's not what i was implying at all.
That said, sure trans fats are bad. But comeon, for people who are into fitness should know this. Even though they shouldn't be promoting it, it's still a joke, because everyone knows that you don't gain muscle from eating donuts.
At least not naturally.

Don't forget to dunk them in milk for some additional protein.
You might even consider blending them into your PWO shake.

Maybe so, but I REALLY don't care how they live. I made the simple statement that he is going to have a very short life gorging on all that trans fats, to which Frankie responded by saying not true because he's not a fat slob.
While the consumption of TFs is not their greatest concern may be true, it is nonetheless completely beside my original point.
We can continue this in PMs if you like, but this was turning into a fun thread on the food industry's version of crack cocaine and the girls who bring it to the party.
Now Roland, turn that frown, up-side down!

I really doubt there are alot of in shape people being killed by cvd that have regular blood work taken. Does it happen? or course.
EPO is getting huge in bodybuilding these days for extra vascularity/endurance. combined with people running equipoise at high dosages for long periods of time (gram+ for several months is not uncommon) may bring hct waaay to high which is really, no good and can kill you. But, stacked ont of the 50iu of insulin per day, 20iu of growth, 3grams of test and 2grams of other aas.. its just a drop in the bucket for many.

I have no idea what EPO is, ok? I'm not competing, so I have no interest in learning about about drug and steroid use in athletics.

What is EPO? Is it a steroid? I have no idea.

EPO increases red blood cell count, hence the body's ability to carry ogygen to muscle cells. Used to treat chemo patients mostly, and by cyclists and cross country skiers to enhance performance.
Still not at all clear what that has to do with naughty girls bearing Oreos in exchange for sexual favors, though.

Umm, OK, I'll stop taking acronyms... I promise. But back to the main point of the thread: I had Oreos dipped in heavy cream the other night -- that was freaking unbelievable. And low-cal and healthy too!

Let's if we can apply the six degrees ideology:
1. Risky sexual conduct can transmit STDs.
2. Some STDs are linked to increased risks of cancer.
3. EPO is used in chemotherapy.
Hmm...3 steps.

Why "were?" Doesn't Nabisco make them anymore?
I did see white chocolate covered Oreos yesterday. It took a pretty good amount of will power to walk past them.

I think the white ones are fudge, they're very good too. The milk chocolate coated mint ones "are to die for", as a certain unnamed individual would say.
I also liked the Uh-Oh Oreos, but I always wanted to try a Double-Stuf Uh-Oh. I don't think they ever made those though.

Hehehe, like Alco, I avoid the middle isles, except for the coffee, jerky and nuts isles.
However, I think three cookies a month is not over doing it. THe problem is, finding someone to take the other 47 in the bag.
