Body Opus.
Hello name is Brian and I am new to this forum. A buddy of mine from a softball forum lead me to this site.
I am looking for some information on a Diet that I was given about 10 years ago called the Body Opus. It worked well for me I dropped 22lbs in a month. I got this from a trainer from a World Gym in Worthington, Ohio. His name Was Chris Regallo (Think that was his last name) The plan goes as such...
Be sure to consume at least a gallon of water a day.
Breakfast
3 Egg White
1 Slice Cheese
4 Sausage links
2 fat burners
1 Tsp Flaxseed oil
1 scccop protien in water
Lunch
8oz can tuna
small salad
2 fat burners
1 tsp Flaxseed oil
1 scoop protien in water
1 String cheese
Dinner
8 oz steak, or chicken
1 string cheese
4 egg whites
1 tsp flaxseed oil
1 scoop protein in water
Then on the weekends you do a carb loading phase, That's what I am missing!!
Is there anypne that may be able to help????
Thanks in advance!!

Thanks. I do have a plan, just trying to fine tune what I need to do. Over the past 3 years I have lost a grand total of 135 lbs.I just want to drop anotther 20-30 so get and stay between 210-215.
These last few pounds have been the most troublesome for me.

Body Opus is a cyclical ketogenic diet. Tends to work fairly well for some, but you generally have to synchronize the training aspects of it.
Lyle McDonald has written an updated version of Dan Duchaine's original Body Opus/Ultimate Diet, called the Ultimate Diet 2.0, which is available over at Bodyrecomposition - Lyle McDonald
It covers most of this in detail.

I did BodyOpus back in 97 and got pretty good results from it, but it was not a maintainable diet. It was very hardcore! I found myself looking so forward to the refeeds that eventually I got to where I overdid it.

That's about the time when I did mine. Just I forget what to do for the weekend part. I was on it 3 weeks.

Yeah that looks like very little to NO carbs there. When I go that low carb, I take some Psyllium husk just to keep things moving.
The "AD" diet is very similar. On the weekend you carb up but make som efforts to make them "clean" carb ups. Lots of vegetables, some pasta. The AD (Anabolic diet) didn't really have any strict guidelines for the weekend carb ups. Only suggestions that you avoid over indulging on sweet/processed foods. Doing so could end in explosive outcomes.
And I cant maintain that kind of diet for long either. JP is right. Hard core. Good luck.

They're all ketogenic diets, that's why they look similar. Same concepts, different names.

Before trying radical methods of carb depleation and carb loading.. why not try something easier? a few balanced meals per day, good amounts of fats, lots of veggies, fruit too, variety of protien sources etc.
A cycling diet you will eventually fall off and youll have no foundation to, youll go back too your old ways lots of the time. I like to think about diet as more of a lifestyle then a plan. We wouldn't recomend someone new to weightlifting a complex lifting program until they requite it. I see zero reason to change the thought for diet.
Also, fat burners are most of the time just a whack of stimulants that dont help all that much. I would re-consider that option without a doubt.
Fast diets are all the rage this time of year.

Great post Frank!!
Lyle M. says something to the effect of if you are over 10% BF , you should not go on a ketogenic diet / carb cycling, etc. It is not really necessary until you get into low BF.
A better diet with calorie counting and intense training routine might suit you better.
Welcome to the boards, Brian

Frank is spot on, eh Pete? I agree.
Particularly when someone's been fat or way too lean, a drastic diet with swings and extremes might do more harm than good. A refeed can encourage binging, for instance.
Lose the majority of your fat on a good plan that you can stick with for life. If you get close to done, you can manipulate things for a while, but without healthy eating patterns established, it's a recipe for disaster.
