I eat it every day. LUV it. Great with some splenda and blackberries...great with some walnuts, cinnamon and splenda. Mixed with berries and drizzled with buckwheat honey. I mix in some protein powder and make a sort of pudding. It's da bomb!

It's the cow's milk kind. Sad thing is, I know how to make thicker yogurt by straining, and it's a whole lot cheaper... but I never get around to it.

greek yogurt is wonderful mixed with creme brulee muscle milk--kind of grainy but very tasty. I also add nuts to this.

Where does one go about getting greek style yogurt? Is it in the yogurt section at Kroger? If so, I've never seen it there.

I'd make a joke about how it's hard to get stuff from Greece, since I live in the US, but nothing witty is coming to mind.

Trader Joe's. The fat free and lowfat stuff has nutrient profiles that are practically too good to be true... so I eat the stuff but with one eye slightly squinty...

It's probably not at the average Kroger's. I've seen it at natural foods stores, health food stores, and gourmet markets.

I bought mine at Whole Foods Market. In spite of the prices at that place being absurd and horrifying, I still went in there and walked about with my 3 or 4 little bags of $70 worth of groceries.

I eat it a couple of times a week. The Fage is so expensive, so it's actually cheaper to shop at Whole Foods, since they have different brands that cost less and taste better.

Anyone make their own? How does strained yogurt, made at home, compare to Greek Yogurt from a store?

This might sound weird but the plain stuff tastes just like sour cream to me so I use it just like that. I put it on fajitas and potatoes and anywhere the recepie calls for sour cream.

I've never bought it at a store, but the home-straining stuff is yummy. Not to mention really simple. I use one of those plastic coffee filters. Let it sit in the fridge a couple of hours or overnight with something underneath to catch the whey. Thick and creamy delight.

I tried it and was disappointed. I noticed, afterwards, that this yogurt has gelatin added. I'd imagine that's why only about 1 tbsp of liquid dropped out of it after sitting in a plastic coffee filter for 10 hours.

It was still good. Just like yogurt.

I'll have to try with some more natural yogurt.

Yeah, get the kind that doesn't have gelatin. You'll notice that after you make the first scoop out that whey collects on the top when no gelatin. I'm pretty sure Dannon plain doesn't have gelatin in it.
