Default Exercise on an empty stomach ???

Hi everyone, still kinda new here so please bear with me...
As my title says, what happens to us when we exercise on an empty stomach... I know this is bad, or more counterproductive... But what happens within our bodies when we do this.
I ask because the only time I have to exercise is early in the morning after I wake up, and sometimes its just easier to grab a juice, pick the bike and hit the road.
Do we not have sufficient glycogen stored in our bodies to supply energy for a moderate workout without refueling first???
And also, fat is the major provider of energy during low intensity workouts, and unfortunetly I have an excess of that, why doesn't the body use it at this time, is it because there's not sufficient carbs present ???
Thanx for reading, any and all comments are greatly appreciated

1. If you're not going to wake up earlier to eat then it really doesn't matter does it?
2. You've ridden before without a meal in you and survived. It probably wouldn't be an issue unless you were doing some significant riding or doing some sort of interval.
3. Energy source burned during exercise isn't necessarily relevant. If you burn fat during exercise and build it back up from your eating it doesn't really matter that you burned "fat" right? Your various energy stores are in a constant flux. Your priority (if trying to lose fat) should be a negative calorie balance.
