Default Wow, whoops.

So I started Afterburn Training almost 4 weeks back. Started off with good results, but then stalled and put most of it back on. I had started off following a strict diet and eased away to 'fairly close', or so I thought.

I decided to buy fitday and track my eating. I just went through and put the last couple of days in. Oops. I'm averaging about 400-500 cals over my goal, which puts me at or above my estimated maintenance level. Here I thought I wasnt doing too bad.

The reason I started varying from plan was just plain boredom with eating the same stuff all the time. I had planned 2 days worth of eating, WO days and non-WO days. I wont blame my wife for complaining, it didnt take much to convince me to start varying.

The main problem after analysing the actuals v's planned, is the way I set my days eating up. I definately front-loaded the day with almost 1000cals by the time I finished breakfast (including PWO drinks as I workout before brecky), and only around 3-400 cals for dinner. That worked fine when I was having half servings of GN type meals for dinner, however once I started substituting more traditional meals for dinner I went back to eating full size meals for dinner, on top of approximately the same cals earlier in the day as planned.

I'd already been planning on rearranging stuff for next week and beyond, at least this helps with that planning. I'm going to try for a more balanced daily eating, so that an 'unplanned' dinner shouldnt throw things out so much. Also come up with a lot more variety of options to try to avoid the whole boredom in the first place.

Ahh well, hopefully lesson learnt. At least I didnt cruise along blaming it on metabolism or other crap. As a positive I seem to have actually put on a fair bit of muscle in the last couple of weeks, so that'll be there when the fat goes now.

Even great trainers and athletes learn every time they go out. That's what it's all about: finding out what works/doesn't work and why... and then adjusting.

Sounds like you've got the right mindset and plan laid out. Best of luck!

Dropped all the weight I'd put back on plus some extra last week. Tracking things really helped keep me in check when I got 'peckish'. Heres hoping I can keep it on track now .
