Default Trueprotein

just a heads up to you guys, true protein just came out with some new flavors, and they are amazing.

I bought 7lbs of unflavored protein, and then the flavor packs separate. I bought orange dream. banana bash, and double fudge chocolate. They are all real good, with the double fudge being my least favorite.

You can also order a thing of 13 sample packs of the new flavor, mixed with WPI for pretty cheap (10.99)

True Protein | High Quality Nutrition and Protein Supplements

I don't want this to be an advertisement or anything, but i know i made a post about looking for a good tasting protein. And, these are REALLY good.

One thing i would do though, is do like i did, and get the flavor separate. This way, if you get a flavor you don't like, you don't have pounds of it laying around. Also, you can make the flavors sweeter, or not as sweet, depending on your taste.

i just get whey concentrate. I don't think it really matters in the long run. Taste will be different between proteins, but i don't think the results will be extremely drastic.

I tried the waxy maize today in my drinks, and that stuff's not the best. It's very starchy, and makes the drinks a bit thicker, but it feels like you're drinking a drink w/ starch in it. I'll finish off the tub, but i don't see myself paying for this stuff.

I just ordered the sample pack - they're pretty close by so it should come pretty quickly. Once I know the flavors I like, I'll likely take your advice for unflavored + flavor packs.

cool, let me know how you like them! I've only tried 3 of the new ones, so i'd like to hear what other people think are good so i can try some other ones. I really like the orange one though.

my flavor sampler came today - seems to be 50g / flavor for the 13 flavors.
How much water do you use - my current protein I use 30g scoop in about 4 oz water?

i would say go around 12oz of water to start, and then up it from there according to taste.

let me know what you think of them!

well, we tried 50g (well it was a little short) in 8 oz of water - it seemed thinner than we are used to but flavorful - Strawberry Banana flavor. It was good - no weird aftertaste and it didn't taste "fake". Sweetness was about right as well.

Only 4oz?

I think you should dilute it down a bit more. I've heard it absorbs better if it's a lighter solution. The figure I heard is 1-10%.

I have been using MRM "low-carb" protein and the label directions call for one 30g scoop in 3-4 oz water - so that's what I'm used to.

Do you use it strictly PWO and no other time?

Me - I use the MRM right now for breakfast, double shake with about 70g/half-cup frozen berries. So they add more water as well. And it is whey + casein in the mix, with a little fat & a few carbs. Not a whey isolate.

The TrueProtein - I'll probably use as breakfast and PWO with doctoring/additions.

We've been trying more of the flavors (this better not upset my stomach)

Orange Cream: I though the orange flavor was a little too close to Tang or baby aspirin orange. J. thought it very close to a fifty-fifty.
Limeade: I thought the limeade was a little too tart (but I'd just eaten something that might have interfered with the flavor) - J. thought it was a hit. Tasted like lime sherbet or lime yogurt for "lime-y-ness".

So far, I like S-B the best of the three, but they've all been good and drinkable. And we didn't really have them very cold, which is usually better as well.

the banana one is good if you like bananas..

I had the Chocolate (guess that's the Double Dutch Fudge) this AM for breakfast. Tasted like chocolate Optifast to me but drinkable. I think I like making chocolate flavor with unsweetened cocoa & my own sweetener better.

The WPI is still thin to me (though drinkable). I'm used to something that is creamier. Maybe that's the casein in my current mix, maybe it is lower qual whey and so there are more adulterants that happen to cause creaminess. Not sure.

banana bash: good
banana cream: also good, but BB is what we bought
orange: too much like Tang - orange cream was better (and what we bought)
strawberry: good - but if you add real strawberries it is too much
choc-banana: surprisingly good

I think we have vanilla, straw & cream and lemonade left to taste.

fruit punch: a sip tasted pretty good - we wanted to try with some raspberries & blueberries - that experiment ended up sprayed all over the kitchen [don't ask] and so only have a single taste to go on.

sounds like we bought pretty close to the same ones then. I bought banana bash, and orange cream and the chocolate one. I figured choc-banana would be easy if i combined the fudge and banana flavor. that didn't taste so good.

Flavors and my rating so far from the premium sample pack:

Vanilla -- "Good mixin' for oatmeal"
Strawberry Banana -- "Not bad!"
Banane Creme -- "Smack yo mama good"

10 more to go!

That's good to hear.

I'm hesitant on getting the trail pack, because 5 of the 13 flavors have banana and I frickin' hate banana flavor.

I'm not a fan of fruit flavored protien...I usually go with a chocolate or vanilla or cookies and cream...more desert like flavors. Is the chocolate really that bad?
